Seeking Advice on Throttle Valve Potentiometer Issues in 2010 Fiat Ducato Diesel

Check engine light on

Loss of engine power

Jerking on acceleration

Poor fuel economy

Engine shuts off by itself

Unsteady engine

Hey buddies! Has anyone dealt with a throttle valve potentiometer problem with their 2010 Fiat Ducato Diesel before? Mine's got about 178k on the clock, and it's giving me all kinds of grief - check engine light, rogue engine shutting off, loss in power, jerkiness when I step on the gas, and the fuel economy's gone down the drain. Pretty sure it's a potentiometer error, but would love to hear anyone's experience with similar issues? Any recommendations for trustworthy mechanics? Last one kinda left a sour taste in my mouth. Cheers in advance!

Hey! I own a 2013 Fiat Sedici, and I noticed your problems sound eerily similar to what I went through last year. Turns out, my throttle valve was acting up too. All the signs were there - erratic engine, shoddy fuel economy, the works! Turns out, the internal mechanics of the throttle valve were defective, which caused all the drama. Had to get the throttle assembly replaced at a garage. It was a serious issue - letting it happen could've caused more damage, I reckon. To be honest, the whole experience was a right pain, but once the mechanics did their thing, boom! All the issues were gone. So, based on what you're describing, I’d say you’re probably spot on with your diagnosis. Also, finding a decent mechanic can be a mission, but don’t give up there they’re out there!

Hey there! It seems like our woes with our Fiats are pretty similar, huh? Your experience with the throttle valve situation gives me a bit more confidence that I'm barking up the right tree. Thanks for sharing! I can only imagine how relieved you were when the problem was solved. If you don't mind me asking, do you recall how much that throttle assembly replacement set you back? And since you've had it fixed, have there been any other issues cropping up or is your Sedici running smooth as ever? Cheers!

Hey there! Yeah, those Fiat gremlins can be a real headache, huh? I remember feeling a big relief when all was said and done. Just hit the gas and the old girl was running like a dream. As for the cost, it set me back about 345 Euro for the throttle valve fix. Not exactly chump change, I can tell ya! But considering how critical it is for the performance and lifespan of the motor, well, you gotta do what you gotta do. As they say - cheap repairs ain't good, and good repairs ain't cheap! And about your other question - knock on wood, she's been running smooth as silk since I got that potentiometer error fixed. It seems that was the real bug in the system. Still crossing my fingers though—you know how these car troubles like to sneak up on ya. Good luck with your Ducato! Hope this helps.

Cheers for the details! It does pinch the pocket, but I suppose peace of mind isn't a bargain deal. And yeah, maintaining a car is rather like playing a never-ending game of whack-a-mole with issues. Glad to hear your Sedici's been behaving though, that's reassuring news. Really appreciate your advice - it's set me on the right track. Time to find myself a decent mechanic who won't give me the runaround. Hopefully, everything will sort itself out and my Ducato can hustle without any hitches. Crossing my fingers! Thanks again!
