Seeking Advice on Solving Dim Lights and Weak Battery Issues in 2023 Seat Tarraco with Gasoline Engine

Weak battery when starting the engine

Dim or flickering lights

Hey folks, I'm having a bit of a problem with my 2023 Seat Tarraco with a Gasoline engine. Lately, I've noticed some issues like dim or flickering lights and the battery seems weak during engine start-up. I reckon it could be a battery sensor error, but I'm not entirely sure. Have any of you experienced something similar and gotten it fixed? Would appreciate any insights, tips, or advice you might have about troubleshooting this. Cheers!

Hi there, I had a similar thing with my own 2021 Seat Leon. I've been tinkering with cars for years, so you could say I have some experience under my belt. Turns out, my problem was exactly as you suspected - a faulty battery sensor microprocessor. My local shop had to replace it for me, cost me about 315 Euro. Do you have any check engine lights on or any diagnostic trouble codes? The more info you give, the more detailed advice I can throw your way. Stick in there. These things sometimes sound worse than they are.

Thanks for the swift reply! My car has about 64876 KM on the clock. No check engine lights yet, and no trouble codes to report. But I'd surely hate for it to get worse, so I'm thinking about having it checked by my local mechanic. Guess it's better to be safe than sorry, eh? Has this issue happened to you before? Just curious to know. Cheers!

Hey, no problem, happy to help! Yes, my Seat Leon had about 50,000 KM on it when the battery sensor issue came up. No check engine light or trouble codes either, drove me nuts trying to get to the bottom of it. Ended up taking it to my mechanic since I didn't want to ignore it and end up with a dead battery or worse, stuck on the roadside. Honestly, your approach is spot on. Nip it in the bud before it becomes a bigger and pricier problem. Plus, if it does turn out to be the sensor, which my gut tells me it is, you won't be paying an outrageous fortune for it. Let me know how it turns out. And remember, better spend a few bucks today than few hundred tomorrow. Cheers!

Really appreciate the help and advice! Just based off our chat, I feel a lot better about the whole thing. Looks like my Terra's trip to the mechanic is long overdue then eh? I'll definitely get it checked out soon and let you know how it goes. Your experience sure sounds similar to mine, so fingers crossed it's not too serious. Thanks for reassuring words. Time to save those future big bucks. Cheers!
