Hey there, Appreciate your input! It does sound very similar to what I'm experiencing here. Never thought about the lambda sensor - I'll get an OBD-II scanner and check it out. I'll also explore getting some professional help if necessary. To answer your question on mileage, my little Premacy has clocked 45492 KM so far. I generally maintain it well and the last service was not too long ago. Let's see how this all turns out! Thank you again for your advice, it's been super helpful. Will keep you all posted. Cheers!
Hey again! Glad to hear my experience and advice were helpful. Your Mazda Premacy's still fairly low-mileage all things considered, so I reckon it should still have lots of life left in it. After checking out the lambda sensor situation with an OBD-II scanner and if need be, replacing it, you just might see a significant difference. In case you do end up seeking professional help, try to find a reputable mechanic who's experienced with your model. It would also be worth checking if there're any software updates in store for your car that have been released to rectify any common issues. Remember, cars sometimes just need a little bit of attention and upkeep and then they're good as new. Just keep at it! And do keep us in the loop on how things go. Best of luck and keep on motoring! Cheers!
Hey! Really appreciate your follow-up and the encouragements. It's great to hear that my Mazda still has a fair bit of life left. I'll look into the OBD-II scanner, lambda sensor solution, and possibly professional advice if it comes to that. And I'll also check for software updates, didn't think of that earlier. You're absolutely right, a bit of attention and upkeep goes a long way, doesn't it? Looking forward to my Mazda roaring back to life, with a little help. I'll definitely keep you all in the loop with any developments. Thanks once again for the insightful advice. Keep well and safe motoring! Cheers!
Hey! I had a similar problem with my 2005 Mazda6, so not exactly the same model but close enough. My level of car expertise floats around the 'some experience' mark, but this issue really had me scratching my head. Initially, I tried to figure this out myself, but decided to take it to my go-to workshop. It turns out that one of the lambda sensors was defective in my car. This can mess with the fuel mixture in your engine leading to the black smoke because of incomplete combustion and also cause the drop in power due to a wrongly adjusted air-fuel mix. I ended up paying around €375 to get one of these sensors replaced. Here's a tip: lambda sensor issues can sometimes be flagged by OBD-II scanners, so might be worth picking one up if you're gonna delve into DIY car repairs. Anyway, it would be helpful if you could provide more details about your car like its mileage and maintenance history. This will help to give a more accurate diagnosis of your situation. Good luck and keep us posted! Cheers.
