Black smoke from exhaust on acceleration

Hey fellow car lovers! Facing a baffling issue with my 2010 Mazda Bongo Diesel. Lately, it's been acting unusual with symptoms like check engine light, drop in power, an unsteady engine, and jerking on acceleration. Worst of all, it stalls when idling, and there's black exhaust smoke when I step on the gas! My guess is it's something to do with the engine intake quantity, but I'm not so sure. Anyone else bump into this problem before? I'm keen on hearing about any fix-it tales from your workshop experiences. Any tips or advice would be much appreciated!

Hey there! Can’t say I’m an automobile maestro, but I've had some experience tending to my own four-wheeler. I've got this 2008 Mazda Demio, almost a sibling to your Bongo, so to speak. Faced an identical hiccough a while back with the same signs - that unpredictable jerk, unwelcome black smoke and the engine playing up. Turns out the culprit was an Intake system leaking. Lugged it off to my trusted workshop and the blokes there sorted it out for me. The invoice came out to about 425 Euro, not exactly a bargain, right? Anyhows, could you share a bit more detail about your Bongo? Things like how much mileage it's done, how regularly you've had it serviced, any prior issues it's had, and all that jazz. The more info, the easier to get to the root of the matter! Boot, bonnet, and beyond!

Hey! Your hunch might not be far off. I mean, I did suspect it might be something to do with the intake. I appreciate the tip! As for my Bongo's history, it's done about 137,696 KM. Generally do regular services but the latest was about a couple of months back. No other major problems prior to this one. I'm thinking of taking it to my mechanic. Though 425 Euro does sound like a hard pill to swallow. But, what are you gonna do, right? It's better than a stalling Bongo! Again, I appreciate your thoughts! Let's see how this riddle pans out. Cheers, and keep those engines revving!

Yo, glad to hear my hunch wasn't too far off the mark! Your Bongo has clocked in some decent mileage! Regular services are key, kudos for keeping up with those. My Demio had a similar kilometer count when it started showing those vexing symptoms. Yeah, 425 Euro stung a little, won't lie. But, hey, it's one of those necessary evils when it comes to prolonging ol' Bongo's life, eh? A word of advice, though? Get a few different quotes before you decide who gets to lay their spanners on your ride. You never know, you could catch yourself a decent bargain. Keep me in the loop on how it goes. Always good to piece another mechanical mystery together! Under the bonnet and over the speed-bumps, keep the revs high and the spirits higher! Cheers till our paths cross again on this gear-heads’ haven!

Hey, good call about getting different quotes. I’m blessed with a handful of workshops in proximity. I'll shop around a bit, see how the estimates compare. Real reckon your advice’s hit the bull’s eye though! And yeah, cost is a necessary evil for keeping the ol' Bongo in the game. I'll keep ya posted about the entire rigmarole. Your beer wisdom sure comes in handy! Till then, keep that Demio purring. And, as we say in our neck of the woods, "Keep your horsepower high and your oil clean." Cheers, and take a bow for the quick wit and wisdom! Let's hook up soon on this motorhead paradise. How's that for an encore?
