Seeking Advice on Renault Arkana 2020 Gasoline Model: Engine Light, Reduced Fuel Economy, and Exhaust Smell Issues - Possible Secondary Air Valve Problem?

Check engine light on

|

Strong exhaust smell

|

Poor fuel economy

Hey folks, I'm having a bit of trouble with my Renault Arkana, build year 2020, Gasoline engine model. I've noticed the check engine light coming on, a serious dip in fuel economy, and there's a strong smell from the exhaust. Thought it might have something to do with incorrect control of the secondary air valve. Anybody else experienced this? I'm interested in hearing about your workshop experiences and what kind of fixes they came up with. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hey there! So funny enough, I've got a Renault Scenic, 2018 model, Petrol engine. Noticed the similar issue a while back myself - engine light, fuel economy went to trash and a whiff out the back that'd knock your socks off. Now I'm no expert - in fact, my knowledge of cars is more middling than a steak cooked wrong. Turned out my issue was the Electric switching valve being on the blink, just like you suspected. A local garage nailed it in one afternoon, cost me a cheeky 140 euro. Just quick question - could you share a bit more about the specifics? Like any recent changes or service history. That sort of info's like gold dust in figuring out car stuff, isn't it? Hope this helps you and get the issue corrected soon! Cheers!

Hey, Wow, what a coincidence that you had a similar problem, bit of peace of mind that it's not just me! Appreciate you sharing, man. As for any recent changes or service history, the last time my car visited the car doc was at 75095 km. Nothing unusual was reported then. She's been running smoothly, no recent changes or modifications. The problem just popped up, out of the blue really. Hopefully, sorting the electric switching valve like you did will do the trick for me too. Cheers for the advice!

Hey, No worries, always good to share experiences. It's funky, isn't it? Everything runs spiffy one day, then out of nowhere, it's like your car has the sniffles. I reckon it might be the same issue, given the symptoms you've rattled out. Keep me posted on when you get it fixed. Very curious to hear if it's the same issue. If your local bloke fixes it for less than 140 euro, let me know, I've got a bone to pick with mine! In any case, good luck with it, hope it’s a quick fix. See you on the road! Cheers!
