Seeking Advice on Power Window Issues in 2004 Mazda Premacy

Power windows malfunction

Hey all, I've got a bit of an issue with my 2004 Mazda Premacy, Gasoline engine. It's about the power windows - they're not working as they should, and my initial guess is, there might be something off with the window regulator. Has anyone dealt with the same problem? Can you share your experiences and how you got it fixed? Especially interested in how the workshops handled it. Any pointers would be appreciated. Cheers.

Hey there! Well, I'm no mechanic, but I do have some experience tinkering with cars. I used to drive a 2006 Mazda 3, pretty similar to your Premacy, and had the same issue. Turns out it was a defective window switch, not the regulator! I took it to my trusted local workshop, they were real pros. They did the diagnosis and part replacement in just a couple of hours, cost me about 130 Euro all up. Just as a side note, do you know when the switch was last replaced or worked on? It might help to figure out more specifically what's going wrong in your case. Hope that helps a bit!

Hey, thanks for the suggestion! To be honest, I can't remember the switch ever being replaced or worked on - it's been quite some time. For all I know, it might be the original one, given my Premacy's got a bit of mileage on it, roughly 292,062 kms actually. Based off on your experience, I'm definitely considering the switch issue more seriously now. I think I'll have to get it to a workshop soon. Thanks again for your help really appreciate it, cheers!

Hey again! Given that you're not sure when the switch was last replaced or checked, it's pretty likely that's where the problem is, especially considering the age and mileage of your Premacy. Our vehicles sound pretty darn comparable and this issue is pretty typical for Mazdas of this vintage. I'd definitely recommend getting your car checked out at a reputable local workshop as soon as you can. As for the cost, even if it's a bit steep, remember it's cheaper in the long term than having to deal with further damage down the road. And you'll get smooth functioning power windows back, so it's a win-win! If you've got any more questions or need further advice, feel free to hit me up - I'm more than happy to help out a fellow Mazda! Cheers and good luck with the fix!

you're seriously a big help. You're quite right about our Mazdas being similarly old champs with comparable issues. And, yeah, even though the initial cost might be a bit heavy on the pocket, you made me realize it's worth it if it means preventing more issues down the line. I will surely get the car checked out soon at a good local workshop. If anything else pops up or if I need more advice, I'll definitely hit you up. Thanks a heap for your help. Really, it means a lot! Cheers and stay safe.
