Seeking Advice on Possible Engine Oil Pressure Issue in 2018 Fiat Tipo

Oil light on

Metal shavings in oil

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Hey there, fellow car enthusiasts! I'm driving a 2018 Fiat Tipo, Gasoline, clocked about 86843 km. Lately, I've been noticing some concerning signs. My oil light came on, found metal shavings in the oil, and I've got an ominous warning light on my speedometer. I'm thinking this could be down to an Engine oil pressure control problem. Any of you guys experienced something similar? What was your time like at the mechanic's? I'd appreciate any insights, just had a nasty experience at the garage last time. Any advice would be awesome!

Hey, funny you should mention this! I had a similar issue with my own ride not too long ago, a 2015 Fiat Punto. The symptoms you're describing sound just like it, with the oil light and shavings in the hood. Turns out it was the oil pressure control valve causing trouble. The cable harness was super oily and defective, which is why my car was acting up. Not going to lie, it was a bit of a serious situation - mostly because a defective cable harness can mess with your oil pressure, which can ultimately lead to engine damage if left unchecked. It's a good thing you caught it early! I had to head over to my local garage to get it fixed. Thankfully, they had some seasoned hands who knew what they were doing. They swapped out the cable harness, cleaned up, and tested the parameters just to ensure everything was humming nicely. After a few days of investigation and careful repair work, my little Punto was back on the road, running smoother than ever! My advice? Get it checked out ASAP by a professional. The sooner you catch this stuff, the better. Best of luck there!

Hey there, thanks for sharing your experience, it's pretty darn relieving to know someone else has successfully navigated through something similar! Your mention of the cable harness aspect is really eye-opening, I hadn't considered that. I'll definitely be sure to take your advice and rush this to a professional, thanks for the heads up about that. Out of curiosity, and if you don't mind sharing, do you happen to remember how much you had to shell out for the entire repair process, parts and labor included? An approximation is fine, just trying to get a sense of budget here. Also, ever since you got this particular issue resolved, did you come across any other problems related to this same component or was it smooth sailing from then on? Appreciate your help! Cheers!

Hey, no worries at all, we're all in this car-fandom together, right? About your question on the cost, I remember it quite clearly because I had the same worries about my pocket taking a hit! All in all, the replacement of that defective and oily cable harness on the oil pressure control valve cost me around €350. That included the parts, labor, and testing to make sure everything's running as smooth as a kitten purring. Now, to the best part of your query! Since that bumpy episode with the Engine oil pressure control fault and getting that darn troublesome cable harness replaced, I've been having smooth drives with my Fiat! No related issue at all, touch wood. It feels as if the mechanic's fixes breathed a new life into my trusty Punto, and for that €350, it was totally worth it. So hurry up and get your Tipo checked out and you should be back on the road with no hassles in no time. I'm pretty sure fellow Fiat enthusiasts are with me on this. Happy motoring!

Wow, you're an absolute lifesaver! It makes me feel a lot more prepared knowing about your experience and especially about the associated costs, one less surprise on the horizon. Your Fiat Punto doesn't seem to be all different than my Tipo after all, in terms of the engine oil pressure control aspect at least. Just the fact that you haven't come across any related issues post-repair is pretty reassuring. Sounds like if I handle this well and swiftly, my Fiat should bounce right back, much like your Punto did. Clearly, the solution is worth it, both in terms of ensuring my car's health and performance, and overall peace of mind. Thanks so much for the advice and encouragement. I'll be heading to my local mechanic first thing tomorrow, fingers crossed it sorts all the worrying signs out. And if all goes well, looking forward to hitting that open road again! Petroleum power! Cheers!
