Seeking Advice on Possible Camshaft Sensor Issues in 2019 Lexus NX Hybrid

Loss of engine power

Hey, my 2019 Lexus NX Hybrid has been acting up weirdly recently. I've noticed the check engine light flashing, the engine sometimes shuts off without warning, cold starts are longer than usual, and I've lost some serious engine power. Sometimes, the engine isn't stable and worst part, the car occasionally refuses to start. I have a hunch that this might be a problem with the camshaft sensor. Anybody here faced similar issues? Could you share what you found to be the problem and how you got it fixed at the workshop? I'm trying to pin down a plausible solution before I head to the professionals. Thanks in advance for any insights!

Hey! I had a somewhat similar issue on my 2017 Lexus RX. I'm not an expert but have gained some car experience over the years. My problem ended up being the sensor wheel on camshafts. It's a bit of a pain, isn't it? Took my Lexus to my local mechanic who ran a diagnostic test, found the faulty part and replaced it. The big hit was the price - I had to fork out 695€! Could you share more about your vehicle's condition, like its overall mileage, recent use and any unusual conditions it's been exposed to? It'll help in understanding the specifics of your situation better. Good luck!

Hey, thanks for taking the time to share your experience! I agree, it's definitely a pain when our rides start acting up. Considering my NX's mileage, it's at around 137622 KM now. I usually drive it on city roads for commuting and occasionally take it for longer highway drives. Nothing unusual that I can think of that it's been exposed to recently. The last service I had was a standard one with no major issues raised. My gut feeling is it's a similar issue to what you faced. Guess, it's time to bite the bullet and head to my mechanic. I appreciate your insights!

Hey! Based on what you're telling me and considering the workload your NX is pulling, your gut feeling might be on the right track. Seems like your Lexus is showing typical symptoms of a camshaft sensor malfunction, given its mileage and use. Just remember, these electronic parts have a life too! My advice would be, don't delay visiting your mechanic - the longer you wait, the more damage it might do. These issues could possibly become worse over time and may even cause more costly damage to your engine. When you get to your workshop, make sure they run a comprehensive diagnostic check. If it's the camshaft sensor indeed, insist on a good quality replacement part. In my case, I had to shell out a decent chunk of cash, but it was worth it in the end. I haven't had an issue since then! Fingers crossed! Keep us updated on the progress and best of luck! Get your ride back in action soon!

Hey again! Cheers for your advice. I'm all set to take my NX to the mechanic first thing tomorrow. Definitely don't want to risk any further damage. A comprehensive diagnostic check sounds like a solid plan, and I'll make sure to insist on a quality replacement part if it turns out to be the camshaft sensor, just like you suggested. I'll let you know how it goes after that. Thanks for the luck! Looking forward to having my wheels running smoothly again. Thanks again for your help, really appreciate it!
