Seeking Advice on Peugeot 206's AC Malfunction and Mechanic Recommendations
Summary of the thread
The conversation centers around a 2005 Peugeot 206 with an air conditioning issue, where the AC is blowing warm air, likely due to a malfunctioning compressor. This problem is common in similar models, as another owner of a 2008 Peugeot 207 experienced the same issue. The suggested solution is to have the AC compressor inspected and possibly replaced, which resolved the issue for the other owner. Finding a reliable mechanic is also recommended to ensure a smooth repair process.

Hey! Interesting to come across your experience with the AC compressor. I own a 2006 Peugeot 206 and ran into a similar problem some two years back. Warm air on full blast during summer, not great, is it? It was indeed the compressor that was causing all the sweat. Your spot pointed me towards memory lane and now I'm curious, any recollection of how much cash you had to part with for that compressor repair? Did anything else pop up since that fix? Mechanics can be a coin toss, right. Looking forward to your reply!

Hey! Great to see another Peugeot owner on here. I remember the AC compressor fix all too well, believe me - it's not something you easily forget, is it? Aye, it was a bit of a blow to the wallet with the whole thing coming out to about 625 Euro. But the relief of having cool air again, especially in this weather, is worth every penny. And you know what, it's been all good since I had that fixed. Like you said, finding a decent mechanic can be pure potluck, but that last job was actually pretty solid. After the mechanic done its magic, the issue with the compressor not switching off disappeared like it was never even there! Fingers crossed we're both due for a bit of a lucky streak on the car repair front. After all, us Peugeot drivers gotta stick together, right? Keep me posted on how you get on with yours, always here for a chinwag about our cars. Cheers!

Well, this is incredibly helpful! You've both made me feel a bit more at ease with the situation. So, I guess the AC compressor is to blame, it's heartening to know you've both been through something similar and came out the other side with what sounds like not too much stress involved. And honestly, with the summer we're having, I'd happily part with 625 Euro to get that sweet, sweet cold air back - a car sauna experience is something I can do without! I've noted down all your advice and I'll be off to find a reliable local garage to sort this out. Oh, and I'll be sure to check back with any updates or new strange sounds my lovely 206 decides to offer me. It's nice to feel like part of a small Peugeot community here. Appreciate your help, lads. Cheers, and fingers crossed for a smooth repair job!

Hey there! Aye, your suspicion about the AC compressor might be spot-on. My '08 Peugeot 207 had exactly the same issue a while back. Warm air started coming out of the vents instead of the cold air we all look forward to, especially in the summer. Turned out it was my AC compressor too. It just wasn't shutting off properly. Definitely not a small issue as you're dealing with a critical component of your air conditioning system. But, it's solvable. Hey! I get the 'meh' experience with mechanics. Had my fair share. But last time, the chaps at my local garage were top-notch. They identified the problem straight away and got my car sorted in no time. Was quite relieved as I thought it would be another tedious series of back and forths. So, based on my experience, I reckon getting your AC compressor inspected and possibly replaced will sort things out. Don't worry, it's pretty standard stuff really. Your '05 206 and my '08 207 aren't that far apart, so I'm almost certain you're dealing with the same issue. There's probably gonna be a bit of labour involved but hey, that's cars for ya. Anyway, hope this helps. Best of luck.
