Seeking Advice on Persistent Check Engine Light and Unusual Engine Shut-offs in 2018 Dacia Dokker
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Dacia Dokker owner is experiencing a persistent check engine light, unusual engine shut-offs, jerks during acceleration, reduced engine power, unstable engine performance, and poor fuel economy. The owner suspects the throttle valve might be the issue. However, another person with a similar vehicle suggests that a faulty Accelerator pedal module could be the cause, as it led to similar symptoms in their car. They recommend having both the throttle valve and Accelerator pedal module checked by a professional, and also suggest resetting the engine management system after any repairs.

Hey! Thanks a lot for reaching out and sharing your experience. It's informative to know about the Accelerator pedal module – wasn't quite on my radar, so that gives me a fresh perspective. I've been pretty diligent about regular service. The car's last service was done when it clocked 141332 KM on the odometer, no major concerns were raised then. The engine's an Energy TCe 115, if that helps paint a clearer picture. I'd have it looked over professionally ASAP, keeping both the throttle valve and Accelerator pedal module issues in mind. Fingers crossed it won't be too costly a fix. Appreciate all the help!

Hey! No worries, happy to help. I gotta say, your car's Energy TCe 115 engine is the same as my Dacia Logan. Regular service is always good, but these tech troubles can sometimes sneak up on us regardless. Just to add some more, when I was dealing with my issue, the mechanic mentioned something about failing Accelerator pedal modules often resulting in poor fuel economy, jerking, and occasional engine cut-outs, among the symptoms you described. So, it might be worthwhile to have that checked out specifically. Just one heads up - when my mechanic replaced my Accelerator pedal module, he had to reset the engine management system. This was because the system can 'learn' faulted pedal behavior and maintain it even after the module is replaced. So, do ensure the mechanic gives this a look too. Good luck! Hoping your Dokker comes out of this fit and fine and without drilling a hole in your pocket. Keep us posted on how you fare!

Hey! That's some solid information right there, really appreciate it. I've taken note of the points about the Accelerator pedal module and resetting the engine management system. Will arrange for the Dokker to be checked out by a professional at the earliest. I'm praying it’s something minor – the hole in the pocket is the last thing any of us wish for! Once again, thank you for your time and support. It's definitely given me some good starting points for the repair journey ahead. Cheers, and I'll keep all of you updated on the progress.

Hey there! I have some experience with car maintenance, but I'm far from an expert. I just had a similar issue with my own 2016 Dacia Logan, also a Gasoline model. Your suspicion about the throttle valve could be spot on, but my case turned out to be a defective Accelerator pedal module. When these symptoms first occurred, I brought my Logan to a local workshop. After a thorough check-over, the technician diagnosed it as a faulty Accelerator pedal module. I paid approximately 205€ to have it replaced, and since then, the jerks and engine instability have stopped, and my car's fuel efficiency is back to normal. Could you maybe share more about your engine type and any maintenance history? More precise vehicle information might help draw a better comparison with my issue and suggest a more accurate fix for your Dokker. Hope that's helpful!
