Seeking Advice on Overheating Issue and Suspected Radiator Shutter Malfunction in 2011 Dacia Sandero

Coolant level low

Overheating

Hey! I've got a bit of a conundrum with my 2011 Dacia Sandero, gasoline, with a decent 57269 KM on her. Lately, she's been overheating and her coolant level's been dipping low. After a not so great visit to a shady mechanic last time, I'm starting to suspect something's off with the radiator shutter. Did anyone of you have this issue with your radiator shutter before? How did the mechanic handle it? I would appreciate any input or shared experiences. Thanks a ton!

Hey there, I can understand your predicament with your Dacia Sandero pretty well. I was in a similar situation with my '08 Dacia Logan a while back. It wasn't exactly the same issue of the radiator shutter but I did have to deal with a faulty Wiring harness to the sensor which was quite corroded. Ultimately, I had to get the wiring harness replaced. The at the garage explained that the harness was not sending the correct signals due to the corrosion, and that caused all sorts of weird symptoms, not unlike what you're experiencing with your Sandero. It wasn't an easy or quick fix, I'd say, and bear in mind, it's a potentially serious issue too. You wouldn't want to neglect it and let it lead to other, bigger issues down the line. Hope that helps you out. Have your car checked by a trusted mechanic as soon as you can. Trust me, it’s gonna save you a lot more stress in the long run. All the best!

Hey there, Really appreciate your insight! Your experience with your Logan sounds rough. I'm glad to hear you managed to get that sorted. It does seem this could be a bit more complicated than I initially thought. Just a quick one, do you recall roughly how much you had to shell out for the wiring harness replacement? Also, have you had any other problems or issues related to this pop up since the fix? I'm trying to figure out what I might be in for with my dear Sandero. Thanks again for the advice and sharing your experience. It definitely helps!

Hey! Absolutely happy to share! To get that corroded wiring harness to the sensor fixed, it set me back about 155 Euro. Not the cheapest fix ever, but totally worth it in the end. Pretty essential stuff it turns out! Since the repair, no more nightmares for me! That functional problem with the radiator shutter you asked about earlier got ironed out in the process. It's been smooth sailing for me! You know how it is, proper maintenance can extend the life of any old motor a good while. I'd recommend not to put off seeing a reliable mechanic for your Sandero. Better safe than sorry, right? Hope your beauty gets back on track soon! You're always welcome for any such car talks. Shoot anytime!

Hello Thanks a ton! Your shared experience provides relief that I can look forward to sorting this issue out without breaking the bank, even if it's a corroded wiring harness like in your case. A relief to hear that no more troubles popped up for you post repair, fingers crossed for my Sandero too! I'll certainly follow your advice and waste no time getting her to a reputed mechanic. Just hope it's all smooth sailing afterwards, like you mentioned. Perhaps once it's sorted I could share my own experience here for others to learn. I very much appreciate your guidance. This kind of camaraderie is why I love this community. Till next time!
