Cheers for your reply! Honestly, it was a bit of a relief to see your message. Like, I'm not alone in this problems mayhem, right? To answer your question, there's been no weird noises and leaks as far as I can tell. Mileage's around 114859 KM at the moment and I just had it serviced couple of months ago. Since the last service, I've added some aftermarket floor mats, but I don't think they're to blame here, haha! At least I hope not. Crossing my fingers the issue's as straightforward as your Highlander's was. Thanks again for your help, really appreciate it!
Hey again! Yeah, this car thing can be a real solidarity builder, huh? We're all in this together. And no, I doubt your floor mats are the secret culprits! Given your Toyota RAV4's specs and situation, it seems like we are dealing with pretty much the same issue. Except for the part about that sly cable on the pump/control unit, another thing my technician checked was the radiator, just to cross out the possibilities of any leaks or clogs causing the overheating. Might be worth inspecting in your case, too. And remember, the cursed check-engine light isn't always as bad as it seems if it's not flashing. Get it to your trusted workshop ASAP though, wouldn't want to risk the engine overheating. Fingers crossed your wallet doesn't take a hit like mine did. Keep the rubber side down!
Hey, thanks for the quick response and for the additional insights. Gonna have my mechanic check out the radiator as well, just to be on the safe side. And yeah, that check-engine light does give me the jitters, so trying to get it resolved ASAP. I'm hoping and praying the solution lies somewhere within our guesses and doesn't burn a hole in my pocket. But well, you can never predict these automobile beasts, can you? Thanks for being there in this fiddly ride. Take care and safe driving!
Hey there, faced a similar problem with my 2013 Toyota Highlander recently - same brand, similar model, and just a couple of years difference, so your problem rang a bell. Can't claim I'm an auto guru but have some experience dealing with cars, y'know? My trusted workshop guy initially thought it might be a standard overheating problem but upon closer inspection, he found the cable on the pump/control unit was defective. Had to shell out around 220€ for the fix, not the best way to end a day, haha. Your issue sounds just like mine. Of course, every car is its own animal. Do you have any additional car specifics (like recent changes, mileage or perhaps have you noticed any odd noises or leaks)? It'd help to troubleshoot your problem better. Hope this helps a bit!
