Check engine light on

Hey! I'm having a bit of a problem with my 2019 Lexus NX Hybrid. The check engine light has popped on, it's overheating, and the coolant level seems low. There's also a warning light blinking on my speedometer. I suspect a message error between the control devices might be the root cause, but can't say for sure. Has anyone else experienced a similar issue with this car or any hybrid Lexus in general? Particularly interested to know what kind of fixes your workshop came up with and how your overall experience turned out. Thanks for any advice you can share!

Hey! I have some experience with car troubles, not a mechanic but owned a 2017 Lexus RX Hybrid so I might be able to give a bit of insight. Had a similar issue, turned out to be a defective cable connection/plug of the water pump, quite a nuisance considering the car wasn't that old. Took it to my local workshop, they are usually pretty solid and on top of things. The repair costs ended up being around €155, somewhat pricey but worth the fix. Your specific problem could possibly be different, especially since it is a slightly different model. You know, giving the year and the exact model, along with more detailed symptoms, might help in diagnosing your issue more accurately. Did you check for any engine error codes? That info could come in handy as well. Hope this helps a bit until you can get a more precise diagnosis!

Hey there, thanks for the quick reply! It's reassuring to know someone's been in the same boat. Fact is, I fed my little road beast about 77170KM worth of asphalt and the last service was not far behind. Didn't think to check for engine error codes (slipped my mind really), but I'll definitely do that and report back! I'm hoping it's something as simple as your plug issue. Gonna guess the workshop won't have me grinning at the final bill though. Well, fingers crossed, off to the workshop I go!

Hey again! Gosh, yeah that's quite some distance you've put on the vehicle already. It does wear things out more quickly and you're likely to hit snag like this at that mileage, nothing majorly worrying. Your last service shouldn't be too long ago, so that's a reassuring point. And about error codes, yeah, always good to have those handy if possible. It's sort of like the car's way of telling you what's bothering it, you know? Take a look when you can and that will certainly help. Workshops do have a knack for lightening our wallets alright but hopefully it won't be too dreadful. Your issue may very well turn out to be a simple plug problem or could be a thermostat malfunctioning, maybe a water pump as in my case, or possibly even a clogged radiator. Depends really.. In any case, make sure your workshop does a good thorough job in figuring it out. Don't be shy to ask for a detailed explanation of what they propose and why. We are the customers after all, have every right to know! Do keep us updated on what they come up with, always good to share knowledge. Good luck with your vehicle!

Appreciate the reassurances! It's the first time I've faced this issue, so it's been a bit worrying. And yep, the same thoughts about the workshop were running in my head too. Will make sure they give me all the details of the diagnosis. Also, keeping my fingers crossed it's just a simple plug problem or a thermostat malfunction. Pretty sure this exercise will make my wallet a bit lighter though, but hey, if it gets my car back on the road, I'm all for it. Will definitely keep ya'll updated post my visit. Thanks a ton! Off to go resolve this 'heated' issue. Chat you guys later!
