Seeking Advice on Overheating and Flashing Engine Light Issues in 2019 Dacia Dokker

Check engine light on

Overheating

Hey! I've got a bit of a pickle here with my 2019 Dacia Dokker (petrol model, about 94K km on it). Lately, the car's been warming up more than Trump's Twitter feud and the engine lights flashing like a dance club. My gut tells me it's probably a glitch with the electric coolant pump (did some basic googling, you know). Last time I had a disappointing run-in with my mechanic and I'd prefer not making that mistake again. So, I was wondering if any of you had a similar issue and how you dealt with it? And more importantly, did your mechanic figure it out without funny business? Thanks in advance for any advice! Cheers.

Hey! You're spot on with your gut feeling, I'd say. Had a similar issue with my 2016 Dacia Duster. My engine went Christmas-light mode on me and the ol' girl kept getting a tad too hot. Turns out it was an issue with the cable on the pump/control unit. Sounds like a long shot, but with these cars, every tiny bit matters, you know? Took my Dusty (yea, got a name for it) to my usual chap at the garage. Realised the problem but it was a bit of a fight to get it sorted. Apparently, the cable was defective in a spot that's as hard to reach as a polar bear in the desert. Thing is, even with the controls not working absolutely top-notch due to the cable issue, the impact on your engine performance can be quite significant. Terrible part was, this involving the electrical system meant it wasn't just a simple patch job. Hope this helps you. Sure was a serious issue and no fun at all, but once that cable was finally tamed, Dusty's been purring like a kitten again. Stick to your guns about it being that pesky cable. Good luck with your Dokker. Those machines are quirky, but they've got heart. Cheers.

Hey there, Sounds like a heck of an adventure you've had with Dusty. But honestly, I'm glad you've shared this info, gives me a solid starting point. Sounds clear as day that the problem's with the cable after all. Props for managing to wrestle that beast to submission! By the way, how much did your mechanic charge you for this cable swarm fight? Just curious, so I know what kind of money I should be setting aside. And since fixing it, any other issues popping up or has Dusty been behaving? You're right about these cars having heart though, I'll give it that. Thanks for the tip, champ. It’ll save me a lot of grief! Cheers.

Hey! Your words hit the spot. Dusty's ordeal was a bit of a roller-coaster, to put it gently. As for the cash bit, my mechanic clipped me for exactly 95€ to get that pesky cable fixed. Turns out the cable on the pump/control unit had bitten the bullet, so he did his magic and all was well again. And let me tell you, ever since that was sorted, it's been smooth sailing. No new gremlins cropping up, just purring like a well-fed tiger. That coolant pump issue was a nasty bug, but once we'd given it the old one-two, no more trouble from it. Hope this helps, and your Dokker gets back on track without much fuss. Cheers!

Hey! Ah, that's a reasonable burn for the pocket considering it's putting an end to the disco lights and sauna experience in my car. Thanks for the scoop. Your Dusty sounds as fit as a fiddle now! And it definitely gives me a bit of hope for my Dokker. Getting ready to give this cable a good confrontation and hoping it'll calm this fiery beast down. I'll track down a trustworthy mechanic this time and make sure they tackle the issue properly, armed with your advice in my back pocket. Wish me luck as I embark on this mission! Appreciate the help, champ. Really! Cheers.
