Seeking Advice on Overheating and Faulty AC issue in 2011 Dacia Sandero: Suspected Fan Control Problem

Overheating

Air conditioning blows warm air

Hey! I need some advice about my 2011 Dacia Sandero with a Gasoline engine. Lately, it's been overheating and the AC only blows warm air - not much fun in this weather! I suspect there might be an issue with the electric fan or its control, but I'm no expert. Has anyone dealt with something similar and have any tips or advice for troubleshooting this problem? Would be really keen to hear about your experiences with your own workshop fixes. Playing a guessing game with this car and I could use some more pointers! Cheers!

Hey there! I've faced a similar issue with my 2009 Dacia Logan, they are pretty much similar, aren't they? Anyway, I can't claim to be an expert but in terms of car maintenance, I'd say I have some experience under my belt. Turns out you're on the right track suspecting the electric fan. In my case, it was the Electric fan “control unit” that was defective. It took a trip to my local workshop to get it diagnosed and fixed. Setting me back about 480 Euro, but totally worth not getting roasted every time I had to make a journey. By the way, can you share a bit more about your car? Like any error codes showing up or previous maintenance history? It'd be helpful to narrow it down further. Stay cool!

Hey, thanks a ton for your suggestion! It seems like I've got a similar problem to your Logan. And yep, Dacia's are somewhat notorious for this, huh? Anyway, my Sandero's mileage reads 110028 KM. And no, it hasn't thrown any error codes to me besides the temperature warning. Its last service happened pretty recently, just a few kilometers ago but they didn't notice anything out of place with the fan during service. Looks like it's time to get it back to the shop for an in-depth look this time! Those 480 Euro sound like a bargain to get rid of this roasting! Stay cool and cheers for the heads up!

Hey, glad I could help a bit! Yes, some of these Dacias do have their quirks but we love them anyway, right? Ah, high mileage – the bittersweet paradigm of an old car. It sounds like you take care of your Sandero pretty well if it's only just started to give you this kind of trouble at 110k KM. About the lack of error codes, honestly it makes sense. The fan control module doesn't always trigger the check engine light, it's a bit of an odd one out. Between you and me, car maintenance is an ever-evolving puzzle, but it keeps us on our toes. So yeah, to the workshop, it must go! It's always worth it for the peace of mind, and not sweating buckets while you drive. Don't know about you, but I don't fancy turning my Dacia into a portable sauna! Take care and let us know how it goes, always keen to swap car mysteries and fixes. Cheers!

Goodness me, you're a blessing with all this advice! Totally agree, the quirks make these Dacias loveable, painful as they might be sometimes. I try my best to keep the old girl running smooth, but with age, it's got a mind of its own! And thanks for clarifying about the error codes, thought I was missing something there. A relief to know it's normal and not another potential problem! This car maintenance indeed keeps one learning new things, doesn't it? Off to the workshop it indeed goes! Can't let this Sandero turn into a sauna on wheels, no sir! Will definitely update back on the situation, the more we share, the more we know! Cheers to you!
