Seeking Advice on Overheating and A/C Issues in 2013 Nissan Juke: Possible Fan Speed Sensor Problem?

A/C System Not Engaging

Overheating

Hey folks, I'm dealing with a bit of a mystery with my 2013 Nissan Juke, petrol engine. She's been running hot lately and the A/C just doesn't want to kick in. I have a hunch it might be a problem with the motor fan speed sensor but I could use some backup here. Anyone faced a similar issue before and had it successfully fixed at the garage? Any insight or tips on troubleshooting would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!

Hey there! Interesting you mention that! I own a 2011 Nissan Qashqai, petrol engine - practically twin sisters with your Juke. I have some experience with cars, but I'm definitely not a pro. I was dealing with a similar issue a while back. My A/C was acting up and my engine temperature was rising. After a bit of wrangling, it turned out my Speed Sensor was defective too. My workshop diagnosed it, replaced the faulty part and it only set me back about 250 Euro. Seems like your symptoms match up. But you might want to get your car properly diagnosed at a certified garage to ensure that’s the issue. Any additional details about your motor’s behavior might help me and others steer you in the right direction. Stay cool!

Hey, thanks for the quick response. Appreciate your insight! If we're talking additional details, my Juke has chalked up around 60,000 km on the odo. Took her for a service spin around about a month ago. The coolant levels are fine and the engine isn't making any weird noises if that helps. I guess I'll take your advice and make a trip down to my local Nissan dealer for a proper check. Good to have a ball park figure on the potential costs though! Cheers.

Hey, no problem! Always happy to help a fellow Nissan owner. Your coolant levels seem fine and with no strange engine noises, it narrows down the potential culprits considerably. For my Qashqai, the trip to the garage was absolutely necessary. They hooked my girl up to their diagnostic machine and it quickly detected the speed sensor fault. Your model might not be distantly different, so I reckon a professional checkup at your Nissan dealer would indeed be the next best move. Going in knowing a potential cost can indeed take a load off. Just remember, costs might differ depending on your location and how long the job takes. Good luck and let us know how it goes. Drive safe!

Thanks! You've been really helpful. I'm heading over to the Nissan dealership this weekend for a checkup. Glad I got some potential heads up for what's coming so I'm not going in totally blind. Hope it works out well like it did for your Qashqai, fingers crossed. I'll drop an update here once it's done. Cheers for the solid advice and happy driving!
