Seeking Advice on Non-starting Issue with 2010 Kia Opirus Possibly Related to Vehicle Lock Malfunction

Car won't start

|

Vehicle starts briefly and goes out again

Hey! I'm having a bit of an issue with my 2010 Kia Opirus, powered by a gasoline engine. The darn thing won't start consistently - it either doesn't catch at all or starts for a brief moment before cutting out again. I'm thinking the problem might be related to a vehicle lock malfunction, but that's just my hunch. Has anyone else experienced this issue and if so, how did you manage to get it sorted out? What was your experience dealing with the workshops? Any insight or advice would be much appreciated. Cheers!

Hey there, I had a similar kind of issue with my 2008 Kia Amanti a while ago. My level of car expertise is on the 'some experience' side. I took my ride to the local workshop and ended up learning that the problem was down to incorrect key programming. They were able to reprogram the key for me, which sorted the issue right out. The fix set me back by about 45 Euro. Just a question, have you tried looking into your keys and the programming? It might be something to consider. Is your Opirus petrol or diesel? And do you have any other keys you could try out with your car? More details will help me give you more personalized advice! Cheers.

Hey, grateful for the advice! My Opirus runs on petrol, and unfortunately, I only have the one key for it. To answer your question, I've got around 62930 KM on the odometer, and the last service was done few months ago. I've never played around with the key programming - maybe that's the problem then. I'll check it out with my local workshop. If it only costs around 45 Euro like yours, I'll be a happy man. Cheers for the insight!

Hey again! It really sounds like we're on the same boat. As I mentioned, I sorted my Kia's similar issue out with the key reprogramming. You never realize the importance of those tiny keys until one day they decide to mess things up, do you? Considering you've got only one key though, it might be a good idea to get a spare made while you're at it, just to have a backup. It's usually not that much more expensive when you’re already getting the key programming done. And make sure to keep us posted on your progress, it could be a help to others facing similar issues with their own Opirus. Fingers crossed it all sorts out easily and your next post is about a smooth ride with a reprogrammed key! Cheers!

Ah, good ol' key troubles, who would've thought, eh? Yeah, you're right. Even though it doesn't seem like it, having a spare key would probably make life less of a hassle. I'll keep that in mind and make sure to add that to the to-do list when I visit the workshop. Also, will definitely keep everyone posted. This whole situation's been quite vexing and if my upcoming workshop adventure gives any repair insights, I'd be more than happy to share. Thanks again. Hopefully, the Kia will be purring like a well-oiled machine soon enough. Fingers crossed!
