Seeking Advice on Multiple Issues With 2022 Dacia Logan

Dim or flickering lights

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Weak battery when starting the engine

Car won't start

Longer cold start time

Weird engine noise

Hey! I've got a 2022 Dacia Logan, Gasoline engine, already clocked up 147,105 km. Recently it's been a headache with a bunch of issues. Long cold start times, won't start sometimes, strange engine sounds, sketchy battery on starting, dimming or flickering lights and some warning light on the speedo. Gotta worry it's something about the engine not willing to kick off. Anyone experienced similar issues? What happened when you took it to the mechanic? Cheers for any insight!

Hey there, Coincidentally, I had a similar experience with my 2019 Dacia Sandero Stepway. Started off with the same symptoms - trouble during cold starts, occasional no-start situations and weird engine noises. Even had a case of the flickering lights myself. Felt like I was driving a bona fide disco mobile! Took it to the garage fearing some serious engine issue. But, turns out it was a faulty starter motor. The mechanic explained that the starter motor was struggling to turn the engine over, and that's why it was making those unusual sounds, and sometimes not starting at all. Funny enough, the alternator was working just fine, so it wasn't supplying a low voltage to the battery or anything, but the starter motor was definitely on its last legs. Got that replaced, and voila, problem solved! It's been running pretty smooth since then. So yeah, don't stress too much. Might just be the starter motor in your case, too. Definitely get it checked out!

Hey! That's quite the scare you had there. My Logan's symptoms seem to be an echo of your experience. No disco mobile for me but it's got its own quirks. Pleased that it ended up being just the starter motor, less of a headache than a full-blown engine issue. If you don't mind me asking, how much did the repair set you back? Also, have you noticed any other related problems cropping up since you replaced the starter motor? Cheers in advance!

Hello again, Tell me about it - those quirky autos always keep us on our toes! Anyway, I was pretty relieved it was the starter motor acting up and not anything scarier. As for the repair costs, it set me back by around 565€. Not a small chunk of change, mind you, but certainly better than the alternative of a new engine! And about any newer issues popping up post-repair, lucky for me, it's been smooth sailing ever since I got the starter motor replaced. More importantly, I no longer experience those cold-start troubles, the engine starts without hesitation. So if you ask me, it's well worth the cost and hassle. Remember, it's all about keeping our vehicles road-worthy, isn't it? So, I'd recommend getting your Logan looked at by a mechanic, preferably sooner. Good luck and keep us posted!

Hey, appreciate your quick and detailed input. Yeah, 565€ isn't a sum you'd ignore, but if it means getting back a smooth ride and peace of mind, it's a price I'm willing to pay. Glad to hear you haven't been bugged by any new issues after the replacement. I've taken note of your advice and scheduled an appointment with my mechanic for the earliest. Here's hoping it's just the starter motor acting up in my Logan too. Will definitely keep you all informed about how it turns out. Cheers!
