Seeking Advice on Low Tire Pressure Issue with 2023 BMW i5 Electric Engine

Tire pressure to low

Hey! I'm having a bit of bother with my 2023 BMW i5, Electric engine. It's acting up a bit and the main clue I've got is that the tire pressure seems too low. I'm pretty sure this might be the root of my problem, but I'd love to get your advice or any specific pointers on it. Has anyone experienced something similar with their car? How did you manage to get it solved at the workshop? Appreciate any experience sharing or suggestions!

Hey there, I had a similar issue with my 2021 BMW i3 a while back. As someone with some car experience, I went down to my local workshop, discussed the problem and they recommended checking the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) sensor. It turned out the sensor was defective and was constantly showing lower pressure. The repair cost was around 625€. It's just a thought, but your issue could be something similar? Would help to know if you've had any warning lights pop up or other indicators. Remember, every situation could be different, so it might be best to take it down to a professional if you're unsure. Good luck!

Hey there, Thanks for the tip on the TPMS sensor, I've actually been having the same suspicion. I couldn't really remember if there were any warning lights, so your suggestion made me a bit more aware of it. I have around 2145 KM on mine, and I did my last service just before it hit 2000 KM. So yeah, I guess it might be best for me to swing by a local workshop and let them have a look. Better safe than sorry, right? Will update once I manage to get it checked. Cheers!

Hey there, No problem, happy to help! Yeah, that sounds like a sensible plan. I recall when I had my issue, my i3 had about the same mileage as yours when the TPMS sensor went off. So it's certainly not impossible that you're facing the same thing. I'd definitely suggest looking out for any warning lights on the instrument cluster in case they pop up again. And remember, the TPMS sensor is supposed to monitor the tire pressure, so if it's faulty, it won't be doing its job. Seeing a professional about it is indeed a good call. With that being said, if they do end up recommending a sensor replacement, don't be too shocked by the price tag. It's a small investment for safe and smooth driving, after all. Can't wait to hear an update from you on how it goes. Good luck! Stay safe on those roads!

Hey there, You're a star! Your insights really put my mind at ease. I'll definitely watch out for any warning lights and chat about the TPMS sensor with the pros. I'll brace myself for the cost as well, seems like a worthy investment for sure. Appreciate the good vibes and watch this space for updates after my garage visit! Stay safe too and happy motoring! Cheers!
