Hi there,! Thanks for sharing your experience, it really helps. As for my car's run, she's clocked 87108 KM so far. My last service was just a short while ago, everything seemed fine then! But you know these machines, they're unpredictable at times. I guess I'll have to get the exhaust flap checked as you suggested. Hoping it isn't that expensive though. Cheers for your advice!
Hello again,! Yeah, cars sure do have their ups and downs, don't they? Given that your ix35 has been serviced recently and has clocked a decent number of miles, there's a fair chance that wear and tear on the exhaust flap might be the culprit. But again, don't quote me on that - I'm no professional mechanic, just drawing from my own experiences. It also could be a variety of other things like the catalytic converter, exhaust pipe, or even suspension components. Try to note if the loud noise occurs during specific times, like only on cold starts, or also when the engine is already warmed up? Any particular pattern? That can also be a good clue to trace back to the root cause. I hope it turns out to be something smaller and not too heavy on the wallet. Fingers crossed! Do let us know once you've had it checked out. Cheers!
Hey, you're right about that - cars do have their moments! I've noticed the noise seems to be loudest when I cold start the car, then gradually settles down after warming up. I'm guessing this could be significant. Based on your experience and input, I think I'll definitely have to get it inspected. Although it's a pain, I'd rather nip it in the bud before things get too far! And goodness, I hope it isn't anything too expensive. I promise to provide an update once it's been checked, might help someone else here. Really appreciate your help here. Fingers crossed for a swift and affordable fix! Cheers!
Hey there,! Looks like we've had a similar run in with our exhausts! I've had a somewhat similar issue with my 2017 Hyundai Tucson, same petrol model as your ix35. I guess that qualifies me as having some experience with this. In my case, the auto workshop confirmed my suspicions about a defective exhaust flap. As The exhaust flap regulates the flow of exhaust gases and a defective one can indeed cause loud sound effects. They had to replace it entirely, which wasn't a cheap affair - set me back by 190 Euro. However, what's going wonky with your car might be an entirely different issue, so it's best to have it checked. Can you tell us more about your vehicle, like how many miles it has run or when you had your last service? This info would really help to pin point the possible cause of the issue. Good luck with yours!
