Seeking Advice on Kia Quoris Issues: Engine Light, Power Loss, and Possible Intake System Leak

Shaking while idling

Hey! I'm having a bit of a time with my gas-powered 2012 Kia Quoris. Lately, it's been showing some weird symptoms like the check engine light turned on, shaggy engine performance, some jerkiness when I step on the accelerator, an odd hissing sound when it's in gear, shaking when idling, and noticeable drop in power. My gut tells me it's probably a leak in the intake system, likely due to its mileage of over 10k km. Has anyone here experienced something similar with their cars? I'd also appreciate feedback about your experience with your mechanic. Just trying to avoid another unpleasant run-in like my last one. Thanks in advance!

Hey, sounds quite familiar to me. I had a similar issue with my 2015 Kia Cadenza not so long ago. The symptoms were nearly identical - rough idling, jerky acceleration, and that pesky check engine light. After I couldn't bear it anymore, I took it to my trusty garage. The mechanic found the problem almost immediately - the problem was indeed with the intake hose. It was leaking as I suspected. It's more common than you may think, especially with cars that have a bit of mileage on them. Don't fret too much about it though, it's not the end of the world and doesn't set you up for some catastrophic engine failure. My ride's been running smooth as silk ever since the intake hose got sealed. Based on my experience, I'd suggest you get your Quoris to a reputable mechanic to have a look-see. They'll probably troubleshoot it the same way. Cheers!

Hey there, your reply is a solid confidence booster - seriously! The fact that the same oddities happened to your Cadenza and ending up with just an intake hose issue is somewhat reassuring, especially considering how much I've been freaking out over this! So you got the leak sealed and that was it? Ballpark, do you remember about how much you had to shell out for the fixes? And, by the way, has anything else cropped up since then or was the hose the end of it? Thanks a bunch for the advice!

Hey there, glad to know my response eased your worries a bit! As for the cost, fixing the leaky intake hose set me back by around 100€. It was worth every penny, though, because my Cadenza's been purring like a kitten ever since! Haven't had any more issues tied to the intake system since the mechanic took care of that leak. Sometimes, all it takes is some small tweak and your ride gets back on track. Here's hoping it's a similar simple fix for your Quoris too! Cheers!

Oh wow, that's a relief! Honestly, I was bracing myself for some massive bill so hearing that it's only about 100€ gives me hope. Your experience definitely puts me at ease thinking about my Quoris. I'll take it down to my mechanic this week and cross my fingers for a similar quick fix. Really appreciate your sharing and guidance on this you've been a massive help! Cheers!
