Seeking Advice on Issue with 2017 Nissan Navara Heating/Cooling System and Defrosting Mirror

Insufficient Cooling/Heating

|

Mirror doesn't defrost

Hey folks, I've got a 2017 Nissan Navara Gasoline model that's acting up a bit recently. Main issues are the poor heating/cooling and a stubborn mirror that won't defrost. I suspect trouble with the cooling circuit water valve but rather not mess around aimlessly. Anyone encountered something similar or have a solid idea about the potential issue? Also, would appreciate knowing your experience with repair shops handling this. Thanks a bunch!

Hey there! I had a similar problem with my 2015 Nissan Patrol. About me, I've got some experience with cars, but I'm no pro. Turned out, the issue was a defective cable connection to the water valve plug. Took my ride to a local shop where they diagnosed and fixed up the problem. Wasn't too bad, cost me around 155 Euro. But hey, before jumping to conclusions, could you tell me if you've checked your coolant leveIs recently? Any unusual noises or leakage? It can help me understand better. Stay safe!

Appreciate your response! I did do the 'coolant level' check fairly recently when I had my car serviced at 161868 KM. All seemed normal with no odd noises or leakage. Your experience does give me peace in perplexity though. I guess I might have to take her for a diagnosis sooner rather than later. Let's see how it turns out. Thanks again!

No worries, I'm glad I could help! Since your coolant levels are okay and there's no odd noise or leakage, it’s indeed a good idea to rule out the cooling circuit water valve. As for the defrosting issue, various things could be at play - malfunctioning mirror heaters, a faulty switch or even bad fuse. Given these circumstances, I'd recommend taking your Navara to a professional. They can run diagnostics and pinpoint the problem, saving you unnecessary stress and costs in the long run. And just to share, my own experience with local shops repairing these issues hasn’t been too bad. The costs may vary though, depending on the problem's extent. Good luck with it and do update how it goes!

Indeed, as luck would have it, getting a professional's attention now sounds like the smartest idea. Also, I'll keep an eye on those mirror heater, switch and fuse issues you've pointed out - they might just be the culprits. Anyway, I'm going to get it checked out at the local shop soon. Fingers crossed, the cost won't sky-rocket. Your input was really helpful here, appreciate it big time! I'll keep you posted. Cheers!
