Seeking Advice on Handling 2015 Dacia Duster Steering and ABS/DSC Issues

ABS/DSC system is not working

Power steering without function

Vibrating/shaking steering wheel

Hey! I need a bit of help with my 2015 Dacia Duster, gasoline engine with about 130,577 KM on the clock. Recently, my power steering cut out, my ABS/DSC system's acting up, and the steering wheel's shaking something fierce. I reckon it could be the steering angle sensor on the fritz, given some symptoms I've found. Fair warning, my last run-in with a mechanic wasn't so smooth, so I'm more in the market for advice and shared experiences. Anyone else experienced similar issues? What was your experience handling it, particularly at the mechanic's? Cheers for any help!

Hey! I can totally relate to your situation. I've had something similar happen with my 2012 Dacia Logan last year. The steering wheel was behaving oddly and giving terrible feedback. Just like you, my ABS/DSC system had a wild run. It's likely the steering angle sensor all right. It was a bit tricky situation, but not something too serious. It took them some time to correctly diagnose the issue after hooking it up to their equipment. Turns out, the coding of the steering angle sensor was not correct. It was not a quick fix job but it wasn't heavy mechanical stuff either. They fixed the coding, re-calibrated the sensor, and after some tests, the old girl was back to her smooth self. So, it's probably not something you can sort out in your back yard. You'll likely need to take her to a mechanic with the right diagnostic tools. All the best with it!

Hey there! I appreciate you sharing your experience with the Logan, it's really helping me get a handle on my Duster's situation. Sounds like a similar problem to what's plaguing my girl. That whole bit about the coding of the steering angle sensor being incorrect definitely gave me something to think on. I've been delaying the inevitable visit to the mechanic, after my last headache with one, but sounds like there's no way around it this time. Just curious do you recall how much it knocked off your wallet for getting that issue fixed? And have you stumbled over any other related issues since they solved that one? Cheers, appreciate your help in this maze!

Hey! I totally understand wanting to avoid those mechanic visits. But, yep, I reckon you'd have to bite the bullet on this one. When it was my Logan’s turn, it stung my pocket by about 195€ to get her steering angle sensor coding sorted out. Since they squashed the bug, there's been no similar tantrums from my girl, steering or otherwise. Seems they did a proper job, with the steering issue fully solved post visit. Good luck with sorting your Duster out!

Aha, thanks a ton for the heads up! It's a tad painful wallet-wise but reassuring to know that it sorted the issue for your Logan without hitch. Well, I suppose it's high time to nip this in the bud and get my Duster sorted out too. Really appreciate your time taking me through your own experience. Knowing what to expect makes it a bit less nerve-wracking. I'll drop by the mechanic's in the coming week and see how it goes. Will keep you updated. Cheers for the help!
