Seeking Advice on General Electrical Fault and Non-Working Park Distance Controller in 2013 Dacia Logan Petrol Model

Fault stored

Park distance control without function

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

General electric malfunction

Hey guys, I'm having a weird issue with my 2013 Dacia Logan - petrol model. It's started showing a general electrical fault, stores the fault, and the warning light on the speedo won't go off. Also, the parking assist doesn't work anymore. I suspect the non-working park distance controller might be the root of these problems, but I'm no expert. Have any of you faced something similar? If so, what did your workshop do to get it sorted and how was your overall experience? Would love some tips or advice to understand what might be going wrong. Cheers!

Hey there, I had a somewhat similar problem with my 2011 Dacia Sandero, so I might be able to relate. Now, I would say I'm somewhere between low to some experience when it comes to cars, definitely not an expert. The warning light issue drove me nuts! I went to a local workshop, and after they checked everything, they found that the Cable connection was defective. They fixed it for me and it cost around 170 Euro. I was pretty satisfied with the workshop's service and professionalism. Your issue sounds similar but, to give you a more precise answer, could you fill me in on a few more details, like how often does this happen, is it consistent? Any other peculiarities you've noticed? The more information you give, the better help we, or a workshop can provide you with. Good luck!

Hey, thanks for the insight! To answer your question, the warning light issue seems to be quite consistent. It's lit up pretty much all the time now. As for other peculiarities, I've noticed the fault usually appears when the engine is idling, but goes off if I switch off and restart the car. But then it triggers again within a few minutes. It's been like this ever since my Dacia crossed the 107697 km mark, and I just got it serviced recently too. Your experience does give me hope that it's likely something related to the cable connection. I'll definitely get that checked the next time I visit the workshop. Cheers!

Hey, based on what you've described, it sounds pretty similar to what I experienced. Persistent warning light and non-functional parking aid, right? Being frequent and showing more while idling also indicates a steady electrical fault. But again, nothing is sure until the professionals scratch their heads on it. When you go to the workshop, do ask them to check your rear parking sensor. In my case, the wire linked to it was frayed and causing all the hoo-ha. Your model's mileage is quite high, considering it's a 2013 Dacia Logan, and since cables do wear with age, it might be the culprit here. The 107k mark seems like a potential turning point for those types of faults to crop up. Please bear in mind that the advice here is informally given by a fellow car-enthusiast and not a proper mechanic, so take it as a grain of salt and leave the final decision to the experts. Make sure to tell all these specifics you shared with us to your mechanic, including your suspicions about the park assist. It will help them greatly in narrowing down the possibilities and dissect where the glitch is coming from. Eager to know how it works out for you. Wishing you quick resolution to the trouble!

Right, that sounds like a good plan–I'll be sure to mention all of this when I take the car to the workshop. Your description of the wear and tear on the cables related to the sensor sounds plausible given the age and mileage of my Dacia. And, although you're not a mechanic, your perspective really helps and is appreciated, trust me! I know it will ultimately be up to the experts to figure out the specifics, but getting some insight from fellow car-enthusiasts isn't a bad start. I'll keep you posted on how it all pans out. Thanks again for your advice and well wishes!
