Hey! Thanks a bunch for the detailed response. I really appreciate it. I'll definitely try to open up that side mirror and check for any wiring or connection issues this weekend. My car had a service just after it hit the 57526 km mark and they didn't point out anything hinky there, so I was taken aback when the problem reared its head. I guess marks on a page can't uncover everything, huh? I'll let you know how it goes and if there's anything unusual I come across, you'll be the first to know. Oh, and I have my fingers crossed that it doesn't result in me losing 155 Euro, car repairs can be such a wallet drain! Thanks again for your advice. I feel a little less out of my depth now!
No worries, happy to help out a fellow Seat enthusiast! The fact they didn't spot anything unusual at the service, well, it is a bit odd in hindsight. Like you said, though, sometimes paper inspections don't show the whole picture. And well, heated windows or mirrors might not be at the top of their checklist - sad but true! Oh, the dread of car repair costs, my wallet flinches in sympathy. But take heart! Sometimes the issue can be as simple as just needing to clean up some rust or redoing a plug connection like it was in my case. Here's hoping your luck bears out the same way. And believe me, that would cost significantly less than 155 Euro. Remember to be patient, first rule of DIY troubleshooting. Do keep me posted on how it goes. I'll be looking forward to seeing those pics of your mirror assembly. And if, by some stroke of luck, you manage to dodge that 155 Euro bill, first round at the pub is on you, eh? Good luck, fingers crossed the repair is an easy one! Cheers!
Hey there, I'm grinning from ear to ear at the sheer optimism here, it's definitely infectious! I'll certainly buy you that round if I dodge the bullet of a hefty repair bill, I promise! You're right about the fact that these minor things may not be on top of a mechanic's checklist for a routine service. It's quite a pain that we have to learn these lessons the hard way, but that's life, I reckon. I'll be taking your advice to heart - patience, keen observation and fingers crossed for luck. I'll keep you updated, look out for those pictures heading your way soon. Thanks again for the solidarity, it feels less daunting when you've got company on this winding road of car maintenance. Cheers, and wish me luck!
Hey there, Sounds like we both have similar taste in cars! I had a similar issue with my 2016 Seat Alhambra, so not exactly the same model but close enough, eh? To give you a bit of background, I'm no expert in car mechanics myself, but I've had some experience with DIY troubleshooting. When my heated mirrors packed up, I took it to my trusted local workshop, and they found out it was a faulty cable connection to the mirror along with some plug connection on the mirror glass that was oxidized. The chaps fixed it for me and I shelled out about 155.00 Euro for the whole job. Without knowing more about your car, it's hard to say if you've got the same issue, but it can't hurt to check. Open up that side mirror and take a look; you might just spot something! If you're still stuck, feel free to upload a photo of your mirror assembly. I’ll be more than happy to take a look and see what might be the issue. Good luck and keep us posted!
