Seeking Advice on Faulty Headlight Cleaning System in 2015 VW Sharan Diesel

Headlight cleaning system without function

Hey everyone, I'm dealing with an issue in my 2015 VW Sharan Diesel, with around 169821 km on the clock. The headlight cleaning system isn't functioning and I'm guessing it's due to a low washer fluid level. Anyone faced a similar issue before and have any advice or solution to share? Got any recommendations for trustworthy mechanics? Last one I saw left a bad taste. Thanks in advance!

Hey there, Had a similar issue with my 2018 VW Tiguan not long ago, the windscreen wash system started playing up with the "Washing Liquid Level Too Low" warning coming on dash. First thought was to just top up the fluid, but it didn't help. Turns out, I had a washer fluid reservoir leak. This wasn't like some catastrophic issue but it's definitely something you won't want to ignore. If left unchecked, it could lead to impaired vision due to a gunky windscreen or, at worst, malfunctioning headlights because of uncleaned lenses. A decent garage should be able to sort it out pretty straightforwardly. The work basically involved inspecting and replacing the leaking washer reservoir. Do make sure to ask them to check all lines and pumps associated with the system because there's a chance it's not just the reservoir that's causing trouble. If you're in need of a trustworthy mechanic, my go-to is Mike at VW City Garage - hands-on and knows his stuff. Hope you manage to sort it out!

Hey! Cheers for the great response! Reservoir leak, huh? Yep, that's something I hadn't considered. Gotcha, I'll make sure to have the whole system inspected. Seems pretty essential to keep those headlights cleaned! By the way, you mentioned getting your issue sorted at VW City Garage. Out of curiosity, do you recall how much it set you back? Also, any further issues pop since then, or has it been smooth sailing? Thanks again!

Hey! Glad I could help a bit! As for the cost, fixing the "Washing Liquid Level Too Low" issue at VW City Garage was not bad at all. It ran me around 25.00 €. Not too painful on the wallet, eh? Since that visit to the mechanic, things have been running smooth. No other washer fluid issues. So, yeah, it's been smooth sailing since the Washer fluid level low was sorted. Hope this helps and all goes well with your Sharan!

Hello, That's fantastic to hear! A mere 25 Euro and the problem's sorted out - sounds like a fair deal. Thanks so much for the insight; I genuinely appreciate it. I'll definitely get in touch with Mike at VW City Garage and align a visit. Here's to hoping my Sharan follows the trail of your Tiguan – no issues post-fix! Take care, and cheers again for your help!
