Fault stored

Hey everyone! Has anyone experienced general electrical malfunctions, stored fault and faulty park distance control in a Volvo S80 with a Diesel engine, 2011 model? The speedometer warning light has also popped up. I suspect it could be an issue with the parking aid, but I'd love to hear your thoughts or previous experiences. How did your mechanic resolve this? All tips are welcome!

Hey there! I've got a Volvo S60 2013 Diesel model, pretty similar to your S80, and I faced a similar issue not too long ago. I ain't no car expert, but I've got some hands-on experience with this particular problem. In my case, the trouble was a faulty parking aid sensor, as you suspected. Took it to my local garage, they diagnosed the same and fixed it up. Cost me around 265 Euro, but it rectified all the warning lights and malfunctions. That being said, would you mind sharing a bit more about the behavior of your car? Any odd noises or changes in performance? That might help me, or others here, to give you a more targeted advice. Cheers!

Hey thanks for the input! After your comment, I'm leaning more towards the parking aid sensor. As for the behavior of the car, it's pretty much like normal. No engine noises and performance has been steady. I'm really baffled about the whole situation and the service warning light going off! I'm gonna get it checked by my mechanic soon because I've clocked in about 84795 KM km on it and haven't seen this issue before. I'm hoping this is not going to empty my wallet! Cheers!

Good to hear back from you! If there's no change in engine performance and no odd noises, then I'm fairly confident it's the parking aid sensor acting up just as it did in my ol' S60. No need to stress too much, I reckon. Get it checked out with trusty ol' mechanic as soon as you can. In all likelihood, the fix wouldn't empty your wallet. I mean, 265 Euro ain't exactly pocket change but considering the potential heartache of other mechanical issues, it's the lesser evil! Just a lil' tip - when you do take it in, don't forget to tell your mechanic to clear the stored faults after he's done fixing the sensor. That should get rid of all the warning lights and you can cruise in peace again! Keep us posted about how it goes, yeah? Safe driving!

Appreciate the reassurance! I'm arranging a visit to the garage this weekend to sort this out. I'll make sure to mention about clearing the stored faults to my mechanic. Fingers crossed it doesn't turn out to be more than the parking aid sensor. I'll definitely keep you guys in the loop after the appointment for sure. Thanks again for the help! Safe driving to you too!
