Seeking Advice on Electrical Issues and Reliable Mechanic for '09 Nissan Rogue with 134k KM Mileage

General electric malfunction

|

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Hey folks, I'm driving a '09 Nissan Rogue, Gasoline engine with about 134k KM on it. Been getting some general electric issues lately and a warning light popped up on my speedometer. Also noticed an error message with the AC which is puzzling me. Anyone else faced this and any suggestions on a reliable mechanic around? Had a less than stellar experience last time and wouldn't want a repeat. Appreciate your advice.

Hey, I run a '12 Nissan Pathfinder myself and I had a similar experience about a year ago, with my AC acting strange, and the good old warning light coming up. Turned out, it was the Cold shut-off valve. It was defective and had caused some electrical mishaps. Not a major disaster, but definitely not something to ignore. Without getting too technical, this valve is there to kill the fuel supply under certain conditions, like during engine shut-off. It's a part of the car's emissions systems, and can certainly perch up a red flag on your dash if it's on a fritz. About a reliable mechanic, I've been pretty pleased with my guy at "Mike's Garage". They are reasonably good with these types of issues and handled mine pretty well, despite it being quite an obscure issue. Hope this helps. Get it checked out soon. Good luck!

Howdy, Pretty interesting stuff about the Cold shut-off valve. Sounds like one of those small parts that can cause a big headache if it goes haywire. Thanks for the heads up. I've got Mike's Garage on my radar now. I'm curious though, do you remember ballpark how much it cost to get that valve issue sorted out? And since you got it fixed, anything else popped up that you reckon I ought to keep an eye out for? Thank you for the help. I'll get it checked out as soon as I can!

Hey, Glad to hear my advice was of some use. As for the valve issue, you're going to love this. The bill for fixing the Cold shut-off valve was an impressive 0€. Yep, you heard that right. Zilch, nada, nothing! The mechanic at Mike's Garage had a good look, did some mechanical magic or whatever, and BANG! It's been running like a charm, no cost involved! After sorting out the issue, honestly, the most notable change was the AC. Remember that annoying AC error message? Well, that vanished right after the fix. So, my guess is, that might be linked with the valve issue too. Other than this, my '12 hasn't sprung any nasty surprises. It's running pretty smooth so far, touch wood. Just remember, every car has its quirks. It's just about finding a good mechanic who can keep you ahead of those troubles. Keep up with your maintenance and I'm pretty sure your '09 Rogue will continue to serve you well. And keep Mike's Garage in your speed dial just in case, they're pretty ace at their job. Stay safe on the roads out there!

Howdy back, Wow, didn't expect that the fix was going to cost nothing. That really changes the game. It won't hurt to give Mike's Garage a shot especially if they have some form of mechanical sorcery going on in there. And yeah, hopefully they could solve both the warning light and the AC problem in one go without burning a hole in my wallet. Thanks a bunch for the heads up and advice. I'll definitely keep up with the maintenance as you've suggested. As they say, prevention is better than cure, right? Hopefully, my old Rogue ain't got any quirky surprises waiting up its sleeves for me. I'm off to Mike's Garage first thing tomorrow. Will let you know how it all turns out, fingers crossed! You've been a great help. Take care, and keep those wheels spinning without a hitch out there! Cheers.
