Seeking Advice on Discharged Battery Issue in 2020 Nissan Teana

Weak battery when starting the engine

|

Dim or flickering lights

Hey folks! I've got a bit of a puzzler with my 2020 Nissan Teana (gas engine) which has chalked up 36,016km so far. Recently, I've noticed some telltale signs like a weak battery when firing up the engine and my lights have started to dim or flicker. I've got a hunch the battery's properly discharged due to self-discharge but my last experience with the mechanic was a bit sour, so I'd rather try sorting it out myself. Has anyone had the same issue with their car? Would appreciate your experience and suggestions for a top-notch mechanic. Cheers!

Hey there! I remember dealing with a similar issue with my 2017 Nissan Altima a year back. I was dealing with the same symptoms - a weak start and my lights were going haywire too. Turns out, the culprit was indeed a defective battery sensor. The issue was intricate but not all that serious. I went to my local garage and they had to replace the entire battery sensor. They also did a general clean-up of the terminals, just to ensure no corrosion was potentially causing any trouble. It's not something I'd recommend tackling on your own unless you've got some serious knowledge about car mechanics. Having a good mechanic, especially for these electrics, can make a world of difference. The one I used was pretty on point with diagnostics and repairs. So, it definitely saved me from any further headaches down the road. Hope this helps!

Hey there! Thanks for the quick response and your advice. It seems like I'm dealing with a rather similar issue here, so your insights are pretty valuable to me. Now I'm curious - do you recall how much green you had to part with in order to get your battery sensor replaced and the terminals cleaned up? And since the repair, have you noticed any other quirks or oddities pop up with your Nissan? Cheers!

Hey! No problem, happy to help out a fellow gearhead. As I recall, getting that battery sensor sorted out came with a tag of 315€. And that included the cost for the clean-up of the terminals as well, which I'd say was fair enough considering the job they did. Since then, my Nissan has been running smoother than ever. The weak starting issue and flickering lights have been laid to rest. I tell you, since the mechanic laid his magic hands on my ride, the battery hasn't shown any signs of severe self-discharge or anything remotely odd. Knock on wood! Remember, your car's health matters, so don't hesitate to get professional help if needed. Safe driving!

Hey, thanks for the detailed reply! Your experience sounds promising and puts me at ease. That pricing seems reasonable too. It's a relief to know that your Nissan's been behavior-free post getting the battery sensor and terminals serviced. For the peace of my mind and the health of my ride, I'll seek out a professional's touch. Wishing you safe travels and no more battery woes! Cheers, and thank you again!
