Hey, thanks for your reply! From what you've described, it really does sound similar to what's happening with my Peugeot 106. I didn't even think about the injectors. I got it serviced last when the odometer was at 58722 KM. Ran a proper maintenance, changed the oil, filters and some wear and tear parts. Surprised that it's been throwing tantrums. But I suppose with these older motor cars, you never know when something might pack up. Got any rough idea about the replacement costs of injectors? Cheers!
Hey again! Yep, sounds like our ride shares the same tantrum throwing style. The cost for my 's injectors was around the ballpark figure of 515 Euro. This included the parts and labor. But it's never really a static cost, prices for parts can vary from place to place. And totally agree with the "aging car syndrome"- it can be hard to anticipate what's dropping next. Your best bet would probably be to take it to a reputable mechanic or preferably someone who knows their way around French cars, and get them to take a good hard look. Diagnosing the wrong thing can be pretty costly. Hope you get it sorted without busting your wallet! Can be a real pain, finding an issue like this. Good luck!
Oi, cheers for the insight! Helps to have a ballpark figure for these surprise costs. I totally get your point about the risk of misdiagnosing, wouldn't want to go down that rabbit hole! I know a local French car specialist, might be a good time to call in a favour. Thanks for the tips, much appreciated! Here's hoping it's just a one-off and not the start of a long list of problems. Fingers crossed it doesn't end up being a money pit, eh? Take care!
Hey there, a of mine had a similar issue on his Peugeot 206 (2001 model). I'm no expert, just got some car experience gained on the fly. The 206 had similar signs- engine light was on, poorer fuel economy, and that heavy shake at a standstill. In hindsight, we probably spent more time than we should have trying to A/B test the problem. We took it to our trusty, local garage and turns out it had defective injectors - which put us back by 515€! However, it's hard to say if it's definitively the same issue. If you could share a bit more about the car's history, mileage, and maintenance record, I might be able to contribute more to your problem. Hope this helps, though!
