Seeking Advice on Dacia Logan 2022 Issues: Black Smoke, Unstable Engine, High Fuel Consumption

Loss of engine power

|

Poor fuel economy

|

Black smoke from exhaust on acceleration

|

Jerking on acceleration

|

Unsteady engine

Check engine light on

Hey everyone, I'm getting a bit stressed about my 2022 Dacia Logan (Gasoline, clocking 19461 KM). It's been acting up: blows black smoke when I pick up speed, the engine feels unstable and loses power, jerks on accelerating, check engine light's always glaring at me, and drinks fuel like there's no tomorrow. I'm guessing an aging Lambda sensor could be the culprit here. Had a rough time with my last mechanic, so I figured I'd ask you all first. Anyone dealt with the same issues? How did it go at your mechanic's? Looking for any relevant advice. Thanks in advance!

Hey! Funny you mention it because I had a similar situation with my 2019 Dacia Sandero a few months back. Was experiencing the same issues - the erratic engine, too much fuel consumption, and that annoying check engine light. It was frustrating! So I took it to my mechanic who confirmed that a dirty/clogged Ceramic inside the Lambda sensor was the problem. Turned out, it was messing with the fuel/air mixture leading to crazy inefficiencies in my engine. It was indeed a serious issue, could have led to lasting damage if left unchecked. The mechanic had to remove the sensor, carefully clean the Ceramic inside, and then reinstall it. Yup, not a job for the faint-hearted! But after that, it was like night and day. The engine was back to its normal self. No more jerking or black smoke drama, and the fuel economy improved as well. So I would suggest taking the car to a trustworthy mechanic ASAP. Trust me, it's worth sorting it out sooner rather than later, such issues can lead to more complications down the line. Best of luck with the repair! Don't stress too much, your Logan will soon be back to top form. Cheers!

Hey there, Well, I'm actually somewhat relieved I'm not alone in all this engine drama. It's crazy how such a small thing like a clogged Lambda sensor can cause so much trouble. Your Sandero's situation sounds spot on with what's happening with my Logan. Now that you've pointed me towards sensor cleaning, I definitely agree it's a task for an experienced pro. Don't want to risk causing more harm than good. If you don't mind me asking, do you remember how much you shelled out for this repair? I'm trying to brace myself for the cost. Also, has anything else popped up since the fix? Hoping it's been smooth sailing for you. Cheers for the advice really appreciate it!

Hey! You're absolutely right - it's astonishing how much trouble a tiny thing like the Lambda sensor can wreak on our cars! On the subject of costs, I had to set back 375€ for the cleaning job on the Ceramic inside the sensor, though it was worth every cent. These sorts of jobs should definitely be left to the pros, no doubt about that. Since I got it fixed, there hasn't been any problem, touch wood. Quite the contrary, it's been purring like a kitten and no more excessive drinking at the fuel station either! Unexpected issues can hit us like a ton of rocks but remember, there's always a solution. Just keep your cool and get those issues sorted promptly. Hope this helps. Cheers!

Hey! Thanks for the swift response! It kinda stings to hear the amount, but as you said, it's worth it to avoid further problems. And hearing your Sandero is doing well post-fix, it eases my mind massively. I suppose it's high time I got my Logan sorted out before it develops any severe damage. I've got a mechanic in mind, fingers crossed he does a job as good as yours did. Honestly, I was feeling rather overwhelmed before, but you've helped set my nerves at rest. Thanks again for your advice and sharing your experience. Hoping for smoother travels from here on. Cheers!
