Hi there! I really appreciate the input. As it turns out, I couldn't spot anything visibly unusual with the wiring when I took a quick peek earlier today. The error message reads "U0001 - High Speed CAN Communication Bus" and, as far as I can recall, I only noticed the problem towards the end of last month. Regarding the car's general condition, well, she's been pretty well-behaved considering the 106731 KM on the clock. Had the last service just about 2 months ago - everything checked out fine then. So this cruise control failure's come out of the blue, you see. Based on what you've shared, I'll probably get a professional to take a closer look at the wiring. Thanks for sharing your experience!
Hey there! No problem at all, happy to help! Now, that error code "U0001 - High Speed CAN Communication Bus", brings some bells. I think it's routine for mechanics dealing with modern cars these days. The Control Area Network or "CAN bus" is essentially the nervous system connecting all the electronic devices in your vehicle, from the engine control unit to the cruise control. If there’s a problem in the network like a loose wire or a damaged connector, it can definitely mess with your cruise control. In my case, several modules were not properly communicating due to a defective cable I mentioned earlier. That's why my cruise control failed. Sounds like you've got a bit of detective work in front of you but I’d definitely recommend taking your Ioniq 5 to a professional. They have the right tools to diagnose and fix these sorts of issues. You know, you seem to take good care of your car. With that mileage and only an occasional problem, she must be a solid ride. Crossing fingers, it's a minor issue. Stay safe!
A million thanks for your advice and observations! It's really making sense now, and it seems quite logical to involve a professional at this stage. The CAN bus thingy hitting the fritz would indeed explain the haphazard messages I've been getting for a while. I've booked an appointment with the service center for tomorrow – they're usually quick with these things. I pamper her with regular services and try not to be too hard on the pedal so I guess that's why the old girl's still going strong. Can't wait to have the cruise control back and firing! Thanks again for your help and stay safe too! Cheers!
Hey there! Sounds like you're dealing with a pesky issue, huh? Now, I'm no mechanic but I do have some experience tinkering around with cars, especially my own Hyundai Ioniq 5. Ran into a similar hurdle not too long ago. My workshop guy pinpointed it down to a defective cable connection. Fixing it involved replacing some wiring, a problem that cost me 95 Euro. Since then, it's been smooth sailing. You might be experiencing the same problem with your Ioniq 5. Of course, every car's different. Could you share more details about your vehicle's condition, any specific error codes you've noticed, or when things started heading south? Having that info would make it easier to help. Cheers!
