Seeking Advice on Crankshaft Sensor Issues in 2017 Fiat Novo

Engine shuts off by itself

Check engine light on

Unsteady engine

Longer cold start time

Loss of engine power

Car won't start

Hey! I drive a 2017 Fiat Novo, gasoline engine, with about 51,758 KM on the clock. Recently, I've been grappling with some unnerving symptoms - the check engine light's always on, she frequently kills the engine outta nowhere, cold starts are slow, there's noticeable engine power loss, and the engine runs real shaky. To top it off, some days she just refuses to start. My gut feel says it’s probably the crankshaft sensor messing up. Wondering if anyone's experienced something similar? How did your mechanic hook you up? The last one I saw really gave me a run for my money and I hope to avoid a repeat. Any advice would be prime! Cheers!

Yo! Sounds like deja vu. Ran into a similar snag with my 2014 Fiat Doblo not too long ago. Dead on, your problem seems to be a defective crankshaft sensor wiring harness or connector. Those symptoms - engine light, unusual cut-offs, slow startups, engine power loss, shaky engine and the no-start situation are all signs of this sensor going South. So here's my story: my ride was having the same quirks! Took it to my local garage. The guy run diagnostics and bam, confirmed it was the crankshaft sensor wiring harness/connector playing up. They had to replace the whole thing - took half a day. Yep, it's a hefty issue alright 'cause the crankshaft sensor's crucial for your engine reading the crankshaft's speed and position. If it ain't working right, your engine's running blind. But once it's fixed, you'll be back on track. Good luck with your Fiat! Cheers.

Hey there! Crikey, your situation sounds eerily similar to my mess. Appreciate the info. I had a hunch about the crankshaft sensor too! Hope the repair hasn't left too big of a hole in your pocket. Just out of curiosity, do you remember how much you had to cough up for the fix? Also, has your car been behaving since or anything else popped up that was odd? Keep me posted. Cheers!

Hey! No worries, happy to help! About the repair cost - it was a bit of a sting at 170.0€ but I reckon it's always better to fork out the dough and have a reliable car, eh? They had to replace the crankshaft sensor wiring harness/connector, which was behind all the ruckus. Since they patched her up, she's been running like a dream. Absolutely no more weird hang-ups - the mechanic was top-notch and got the heart of the problem. So yeah, the crankshaft sensor was definitely the culprit there. Hope you get yours sorted out soon too! Keeping my fingers crossed for you. Cheers!

Hey! Blimey, 170.0€? Not the fanciest numbers I've heard, but aye, just as you said - better to have the ride in top form. Glad to hear your Doblo is running smooth as silk now and that the pesky crankshaft sensor issue's been sorted. Hopefully, my Fiat will follow suit once I get the same fixed. You've certainly given me a sense of direction with your insight. I'll try to tackle this issue head on and see how it goes. Will keep you posted. Appreciate the support! Cheers!
