Seeking Advice on Check Engine Light, Power Loss, Poor Fuel Economy, and Knock Sensor Issues in '07 Mazda 3 Diesel

Weird engine noise

Jerking on acceleration

Poor fuel economy

Loss of engine power

Check engine light on

Hey guys, I'm having a bit of a tricky problem with my '07 Mazda 3 Diesel. Recently, I've noticed some odd issues like the check engine light popping up, loss in power, lots of jerks when accelerating, lousy fuel economy, and a strange sound from the engine. My first hunch is maybe a dodgy knock sensor causing all the drama. Has anyone else gone through this? What kind of experiences did you have at your repair shop? Any advice or tips to give on diagnosing or fixing it would be excellent! Thanks in advance for your help.

Hey, crazy right? I had a strikingly similar issue with my '05 Mazda 6. I must admit that I've only got some car experience and ain't no mechanic, but learned a lot this time around! Took my ride down to my trusted local workshop. After a thorough inspection, they found a defective cable/plug causing all the mayhem. Swapped it out for a crisp note (cost me 95€) and voila, problem solved! Car's been running smooth as silk since then. Now, every car's a world, especially considering all the things you're reporting. But I'd say, let a pro check your plugs and cables too, just in case. It'll be worth every penny, trust me! By the way, do you know if your Mazda 3 has any mods or had any engine tuning done before? That could help me give you some more targeted advice. Hope that helps!

Hey there, it's surprising how similar our situations are! You're spot on about each car being a unique world, especially with mine having covered 105850 KM or so by now. Can't complain for a 2007 Mazda, diesel-powered and all, right? I haven't fiddled with any mods or engine tuning just yet, was considering it a bit down the road but these issues came up. Guess the mods will have to wait, huh? I appreciate the advice, I'm thinking of getting a professional to look at the plugs and cables just like you said. Hopefully, it'll be as simple and cheap as your situation. Fingers crossed! Thanks. Really appreciate your input. Let's see how it goes! Cheers!

Hey again! it is indeed surprising how there are so many parallels here! Considering your Mazda's run, I'd say she's doing just fine! Now, about the mods and tuning, no worries, all the fun can definitely wait until you get these little gremlins sorted out. That's definitely the right call. As for getting it checked out, I think it's a solid decision. It should give you a clear direction to move toward and hopefully won't break the bank either. In my case, identifying the dodgy cable played a key role in sorting the issue. Oh, another thing, maybe ask your mechanic to run a diagnostic test too, see if any other hidden issues pop up. Cars are a lot like us humans, y'know. One issue can often mask something else. Better to catch it early if there's something else amiss. Anyway, fingers crossed your issues will be sorted soon! Keep us updated with how it pans out. We've got your back. Cheers and good luck!

Hey you're a lifesaver! I hadn't really thought about potential hidden issues. A thorough diagnostic test sounds like a proper game plan. It's always better to know what's going on under the hood and not be caught off guard, right? I'll definitely keep you all in the loop once I get the car into the shop. Appreciate all the advice and the solidarity, my. It’s good knowing I've got a super helpful and friendly community backing me up here. You rock! Fingers crossed and off to the mechanic we go! Catch you guys later! Cheers!
