Seeking Advice on Battery Drain Issues with 2007 Hyundai Entourage

Dim or flickering lights

Weak battery when starting the engine

Hey fellow car buffs! I've got a bit of a puzzler here with my 2007 Hyundai Entourage. I’ve been stuck lately with a weak battery while starting the engine and dealing with lights that are either dim or flickering. My best guess is that the vehicle battery might be seriously drained due to self-discharge. Has anybody else faced this issue? What's your experience and how did you get it sorted at the workshop? Appreciate your inputs!

Hey! I encountered a similar ordeal with my 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe. While I'm no mechanic, I do have some amateur tinkering experience under my belt. Took my ride to the local garage after endless headaches with wonky lights and starting issues. Turned out to be a defective control unit draining my battery, cost me a neat 600€ to square it off. By the way, can you share more specifics about your Entourage? Like mileage, last service date, that sort of thing? I might be able to offer some additional pointers. Cheers!

Hey there! Thanks for your reply. My Hyundai's clocked a solid 103858 KM so far. Just had a thorough service not too long ago, and this issue started acting up only recently. I try to keep my vehicle in top shape. Thanks for tossing the control unit theory my way. I'll definitely have it checked out at my local garage. Here's hoping it doesn't burn a hole in my pocket!

Hey bud! Your ride has indeed built up some impressive mileage. Considering your Entourage is well-maintained, it's quite uncommon to run into battery issues, but of course, our machines do spring surprises on us! Just to check - have you noticed any particular patterns with the dimming/flickering lights? Does it happen more when the engine's running, or while playing the radio? These could point to other culprits like the alternator. About the control unit, yeah, it was quite the punch for my wallet. But remember, it might not be the same for you. Your ride might just be due for a simple battery replacement, or a wire-check could solve the issue without costs shooting sky-high. Do get back once it's sorted. Good luck!

Thanks for the quick reply! Yeah, it's been more of an issue when the engine's running, haven't noticed anything odd while playing the radio. Fingers crossed it's nothing too serious. Gonna head over to the workshop this weekend and get it checked. Really appreciate your help. Will update you once it's sorted out. Here's to hoping for a light bill!
