Unresponsive brake pedal

Hey everyone, I'm having a tricky time with my 2007 Hyundai Trajet. She runs on gasoline but recently the ABS/DSC isn't operating, the ABS warning light is on, and the brake pedal feels unresponsive - almost spongy. Even the speedometer warning light is blinking at me! I suspect it might be down to a signal error coming from the pressure sensor on the brakes, but that's just my best guess. Have any of you folks encountered a similar situation or have any tips to pinpoint the problem? I'm interested to know how you got this issue sorted out with your workshop. Any insights or experiences are highly appreciated!

Hey there! Funny coincidence - I just went through a similar ordeal with my 2009 Hyundai Sonata. Not exactly the same model as yours but it's from the same brand and from around the same period. Should let you know upfront that I'm not exactly a mechanic but I do have some experience with cars. In my case it was the Brake system that was incorrectly bled. I did have that 'spongy' brake feel you're describing. Took it to the local repair shop and theyaged to sort it out for me for around 90€. Totally worth it to have the peace of mind knowing the brakes are working properly. Though, gotta say, I'm not sure if it's the same issue you're having, as there are a lot of things that could cause the ABS/DSC lights to come on. Could you maybe share more details about the vehicle? Like when did you start noticing the problem and anything else you think might be related? I'd be glad to share more details from my experience if it might help out.

Hey, appreciate your response! It's a bit comforting to know someone else has had a similar issue. I first noticed the problem about two weeks ago. My Trajet has been driven for about 94291 km, and the last service was about a few months ago. I have not done any significant driving or changes to the car that might have triggered this. From what you described, braking system incorrectly bled, seems like a thing I should definitely get checked. I think it's best I get it to my local workshop and have them take a look at it. Knowing it might cost around 90 Euro does give me some peace of mind. Thank you for sharing your experience, it certainly sheds some light on my situation!

Hey, glad to hear my experience was of some help! Yeah, it's always a little comforting to know someone else has navigated a similar issue. Given that you haven't done any big trips or changes to the car recently, and your mileage seems normal for a vehicle of its age, I'd say running a check on the braking system can't hurt. It definitely helped in my case though I can't guarantee it's the solution for you. Please proceed with it but also keep in mind to have them check the ABS sensor and the brake pressure sensor too, just in case it's an electrical issue rather than a physical one. Fingers crossed it'll get sorted out soon for a cost around the one I had. Happy to help where I can - let me know how it goes!

Thanks a ton! Your advice has been really helpful. Absolutely - I'll make sure they do a thorough check including the braking system, ABS sensor and the brake pressure sensor. Really, hope it doesn't run into something bigger and costlier. Let's keep our fingers crossed. Promise I'll post an update here once the issue is sorted out. Till then, keep sharing your wisdom. Cheers!
