Seeking Advice on ABS/DSC Issues, Airbag Warning Light and Potential Steering Angle Sensor Communication Problem in 2022 Renault Arkana

Airbag warning light

ABS/DSC system is not working

Fault stored

Hey folks, I've noticed a few strange signs with my 2022 Renault Arkana with a gasoline engine. Seems like my ABS/DSC system ain't doing its job, the airbag warning light's on, and a fault's been stored. I reckon there might be a communication issue with the steering angle sensor, but I'd love some second opinions and tips on narrowing down this pesky issue. Also, any shared experiences on how you dealt with and got this sorted out in your workshop would be super helpful. Thanks in advance for your insights!

Hey there! I'm by no means a mechanic, just someone with low-tier car experience, but I had a similar gremlin with my 2020 Renault Megane a while back. The issue indeed was a defective cable connection to the sensor, the same as you suspected. My trusted local shed diagnosed it and sorted it out for around 155 euro. Your best bet is to go to a proper workshop and have it looked over. Could you provide some more details about your Arkana, like the exact model, mileage, and any previous issues? It might help me give more personalised advice. Cheers!

Thanks for your quick response. My Arkana is the 'Intens' model. It has done around 23383 km now, and I had it serviced recently. I've not had any problems with the car till now, and this came up all of a sudden. It still drives fine but those warning lights coming up have got me a bit worried. Hoping it's just a minor issue that the workshop can sort out quick and easy.

Hey again! Given what you've just told me and from my past experience, I still reckon it's likely an issue with the sensor or its connection. This sort of issue started popping up for me around a similar mileage. The fact that you aren't experiencing any immediate changes to your driving does point to it being an electronic glitch rather than mechanical. The warning lights can indeed be worrying, but don't panic just yet. It usually isn't a major headache if tackled promptly. Your best bet remains going to a professional workshop and getting it diagnosed. They should be able to confirm and fix the issue without too much fuss. Of course, costs will vary depending on where you are and how big the problem is, but I wouldn't expect it to be too much. Back when I had this issue with my Megane, it took the guys a few hours to troubleshoot and sort out. The bill wasn't too bad either. Just remember, the sooner you get it examined means the less likely chance it'll snowball into something bigger (and pricier). Keep us posted about how it goes, and fingers crossed it's nothing serious!

Super, appreciate your advice and sharing your experience, it definitely helped me to stay chilled about this. You're right, I am heading up to my trusty auto shop tomorrow to get it diagnosed. I'm pretty optimistic it's something they can handle without much pain to my wallet. Thanks a ton for your inputs! I'll keep you updated about how it all goes. Till then, fingers crossed!
