Seeking Advice on ABS Warning Light and Potential Brake Light Switch Issue in 2023 Renault Arkana

Brake light not working

|

ABS warning light

Hey fellow drivers, I'm a bit worried about my 2023 Renault Arkana (gasoline-powered and around 126955 km on the clock). Recently, my ABS warning light has turned on and my brake light isn't working. After a rather unpleasant visit to the mechanic last time, I'm hesitant to go back, and I suspect that my brake light switch might be the culprit. Has anyone experienced similar issues with their cars, specifically the brake light switch? Any advice or experiences with your mechanics would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Hey, totally feel you. Last year, I had a similar issue with my 2021 Renault Koleos. The ABS light popped up suddenly and my heart sank. Turned out my brake light switch was acting up. It wasn't fun at all. I'm no mechanic, but from what I understand, the brake light switch plays a crucial role in activating the brake lights and disengaging the cruise control. So, an issue with it can seriously mess things up, including that pesky ABS light. Not trying to freak you out, but you don't wanna mess with brakes. Yeah, I was not too stoked about going back to the mechanic either, but safety’s key, you know. Considering it's an ABS warning, reckon you should get it checked ASAP. The issue wasn't a piece of cake but it was manageable for an experienced mechanic. Hope this helps, drive safe! Let us know how it goes.

Hey! Thanks for pointing that out. You're right, better to be safe than sorry, especially when it comes to brakes. Do you remember, by any chance, how much you ended up paying for the fix? And did you ever run into any additional problems with your Koleos related to this? Hoping to avoid a repeat visit to the mechanic if I can help it. Appreciate your insight! Safe driving to you too!

Hey! You're absolutely right, dealing with brakes can be a tricky business. Let's just say, when it comes to what I spent on the fix, you might need to sit down for this... it's a whopping 0€! Yup, you read that right. Apparently, it was just a error and once the mechanic took a look, they sorted out the Brake light switch defective issue. It didn't burn a hole in my pocket after all, haha. And since that little adventure, my Koleos has been running pretty smoothly. No more unforeseen brake light switch issues popped up again. Fingers crossed, we don't have to see our friend, the mechanic, anytime soon! Gotta love these little nitty-gritty details of car ownership, right? Enjoy the road!

Hello, you have no idea how relieved I am to hear that! I certainly wasn't looking forward to forking out a chunk of money for this fix. Will definitely be booking an appointment with the mechanic to get this sorted out. Phew, glad to hear it wasn't a recurring issue for you either. Hopefully, I'll be as lucky. Ha, you're right about the ups and downs of car ownership, sure keeps life interesting! We indeed like the thrill on the roads, just not the unexpected light pops on the dashboard, right? Anyways, thanks a lot for your help, truly appreciate it! Keep safe on the roads!

Let our mechanics help you!
