Seeking Advice on 2023 Seat Tarraco Gasoline Engine Overheating and Suspected Electric Coolant Pump Issues

Check engine light on

Overheating

Hey folks, my 2023 Seat Tarraco with a Gasoline engine is acting up. I've noticed the engine is overheating and the check engine light is on. I suspect it could be an issue with the electric coolant pump. Has anyone else had this problem before? If so, could you share your experiences with the diagnosis and repair process? Any advice or insight would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hey there, had a similar issue with my 2021 Seat Ateca, which is a sister model. I would say I'm a tinkerer with some car experience. The issue for me turned out to be a defective cable on the pump/control unit. Took it up to my local workshop and they sorted it for me pretty quickly. Wasn't too hard on the pocket either, cost me about 95 Euro. Might be worth to check if it's the same with yours. What's your mileage and service history like? That could give me a better idea of what you're dealing with.

Hi, good to hear from you and thanks for your insights. My Tarraco has clocked about 50,119 km so far. About the service history, I last took it in for routine maintenance around four months ago. Didn't identify any issue then. Could the mileage be a factor here? Or do you reckon it's a simple wear and tear situation given our models are pretty similar? Thanks again for your help.

Hey, good to see your timely maintenance. With that mileage and considering your last service was just four months ago, it may well be a simple wear and tear situation, much like my Ateca. But, honestly, without a closer inspection, it's hard to say definitively. Since these cars are fairly similar, it could be the same issue I had. My advice would be to get it to a workshop and have them check out the pump/control unit and its connected cables. The symptoms align with what I experienced, so it's worth looking into. Stay safe on the roads!

Cheers for your thoughtful advice, I appreciate it. Yeah, you're right, I should get it inspected at a workshop soon to get the actual diagnosis. Hoping it's just the same issue you had, fingers crossed it won't be too heavy on my pocket. Stay safe too! Your help means a lot.
