Seeking Advice on 2023 Seat Tarraco's Check Engine Light, Power Reduction, and Increased Fuel Consumption

Hey, I'm having a bit of an issue with my 2023 Seat Tarraco with a petrol engine. The check engine light is on and there's a noticeable drop in power. The engine is also shaky, the vehicle jerks when accelerating, and the fuel consumption has gone up. I'm thinking it could be due to a faulty intake manifold pressure sensor but I'm not totally sure. Has anyone faced a similar issue? Any tips or specific experiences from your workshop visits for sorting this out would be really appreciated!

Hey there, I reckon I've had a similar issue with my 2021 Seat Ateca. Just so you know, I wouldn't exactly call myself a car maestro, but got some decent experience under my hood. The symptoms were almost identical - engine light, shaky performance, the weird jerk when going up in speed. Turns out, it was indeed the intake manifold pressure sensor playing up and more precisely, it was the wiring harness for the sensor which was open or shorted. Got it sorted at my trusted mechanic's place. The dudes there are pretty neat. The total damage was just a smidge under 100 Euro - exactly 95 to be precise. That sorted things right out and it felt like driving a brand new car again. Does your Tarraco have similar mileage or is there something else specific about your car? Something that might help point us to a more precise diagnosis here. Cheers!

Hey! Thanks a lot for the input - super helpful! To answer your question, my Seat Tarraco has clocked about 153,016 kilometers to date. Other than this problem, it's been running pretty smooth. My last service was just a couple of months back and things were all fine then. I find it interesting that the wiring harness for the sensor was the culprit for you. Hmm, I guess I could get that checked out too, alongside the sensor. I usually handle minor repairs myself but I suppose this one needs a trip to the pros. Hope it's as easy on the pocket as yours was. Fingers crossed! Really appreciate your response, by the way. Cheers!

Hey no worries, glad to be of assistance! Ah, so we're pretty much in the same ballpark with the mileage, my Ateca's got just over 160,000 kilometers under its belt. Weird that your Tarraco started acting up just a few months post-service, but then again, these malfunctions can be really unpredictable. Yup, the issue with the wiring harness was a bit of a surprise for me too. But then, that's the beauty (or the curse) of car troubles - they keep you guessing! Now, about handling this by yourself - I get where you're coming from. I tend to do the same for minor things. But in this case, I'd recommend a professional once over. They've got the right tools and the know-how to check both the sensor and the harness. In terms of cost, while I can't guarantee it'll be exactly as mine, but it shouldn't be too steep, hopefully. Fingers crossed! And hey, always happy to chime in with my two cents. We car folk gotta stick together, right? All the best sorting this out and do swing back with updates when you've got 'em. Cheers!

Hey, appreciate your detailed response! Oh yeah, mileage does seem close. Mostly, my Tarraco has been a gem, this issue seemed to come out of nowhere immediately after the service. Guess it's the "curse" of car troubles as you put it! After hearing your story, I agree, it's better to let the professionals handle this one, and yeah, hoping it doesn't burn a hole in my pocket too. Will definitely follow up here after the mechanic has a look. Thanks again for the advice, indeed, us car folk should always stick together. Cheers!
