Seeking Advice on 2022 Nissan Cube with Engine Start Issues and Dim Lights

Weak battery when starting the engine

Weird engine noise

Dim or flickering lights

Car won't start

Longer cold start time

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Hey all, I'm having some trouble with my 2022 Nissan Cube (Gasoline, 21961 KM on the odometer). Lately, there's been a longer cold start time, occasional failure to start, strange engine noises, and a seemingly weak battery during startup. Plus, my lights are sometimes dim or flickering, and there's an odd warning light on my speedometer. Has anyone experienced anything similar, especially those with no-start engine issues? Also, could you please share how your mechanic handled this? I'm a bit worried given a recent not-so-great experience with mine. What did it end up costing you? Thanks in advance for any advice or shared experiences!

Hey, Funny you mention this because I actually had similar symptoms with my 2019 Nissan Juke not too long ago. Like yours, mine was showing some odd behavior. It had a longer cold start time, occasional no-start situations and I even noticed my lights flickering now and then. Oh, and yes, that weird warning light on the speedometer. Turned out it was a defective starter motor. It was a bit of a nuisance because it was causing all these mischiefs, but you wouldn't call it a major issue. To fix it, my mechanic had to replace the starter motor. Parts of the job included removing the old starter motor, testing the new one and then fitting it in. Also, they addressed the connections to the battery which was part of the issue. Bottom line is, don't stress too much, it's definitely fixable! Probably best to take it in soon; these issues can snowball if left untreated. Hope this helps and wish your Cube a speedy recovery!

Hey there, you've no idea how relieved I am that this seems to be a common issue. I was already picturing worst case scenarios in my head! But it's good to know that replacing the starter motor did the trick for your Juke. My Cube's been through its share of dramas, but this is the first time it's acting up quite this way. Can I pick your brain a bit more? Can you recall ballpark how much it cost you to get the starter motor replaced and the battery connections fixed? I just want to have a rough esti before I head down to the garage again. Also, I'm curious if you had any further problems pop up since you got those issues fixed? Reason I'm asking is my Cube has similar mileage as your Juke when you had to get that sorted, so it'd be helpful to know if there's anything else I should watch out for down the line. Cheers for sharing your experience! It's been a massive load off my mind!

Hey, I'm stoked to hear that my experience put your mind at ease, car troubles are always a bit of a headache huh? Anyway, let's talk digits. Getting that starter motor sorted out was around 565€, including the labour. I thought it was pretty fair all things considered. I'd be prepared for some variation based on your mechanic's own rates though. Since the repair, my Juke's been running like a dream. The engine issues were totally sorted, no more agonizing moments hoping for it to start. As for down the line, so far so good, fingers crossed! I'd just keep an eye out for any strange behaviour; cars have a funny way of telling you when something is up, don't they? Take care of that Cube of yours and I hope this helps. Best of luck with it all!

Hey, Thanks a ton for the info. Got to admit, hearing that your Juke has been smooth sailing after the fix really helps me simmer down my anxiety! As for the cost, €565 seems reasonable enough - I'll brace myself for some possible variation. Taking your advice, I'll make sure to keep an eye out on my Cube for any peculiar actions, once the engine issues are dealt with. It surely doesn't hurt to stay vigilant! You've been a massive help! Appreciated your insights and shared experience. I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope it's as straightforward as your situation was. Catch you around, and here's to no more mysterious car issues for both of us. Cheers!

Hi Gert, it sounds like you might be dealing with a faulty ignition switch or a problem with the starter circuit. A malfunctioning ignition switch can sometimes cause the car to start on its own. Similarly, a short circuit in the starter can cause it to run even when the ignition is off. I would recommend having a mechanic inspect the ignition switch and the starter circuit. Please remember that this is just a suggestion based on the symptoms you've described. It's always best to have a professional diagnose the problem. Let us know how it goes.
