Brake light not working

Hey folks, I'm having a bit of a problem with my 2021 Seat Tarraco, Hybrid engine. Lately, it's been acting weird with the ABS warning light popping on, unresponsive brake pedal, dodgy ABS/DSC system, brake light going AWOL, and a spooky warning light in the speedo. I'm suspecting it might be a faulty brake pedal position sensor but I'd love to get some insights from you guys. Anyone ever experienced similar issues and got 'em fixed at the workshop? What was your experience like? Appreciate any help to pinpoint this issue and possible fixes. Cheers!

Hey, I've stumbled upon a similar issue with my 2018 Seat Ateca, Diesel engine. Just to set the expectations straight, I'm treading water with a low level of car expertise. When I faced this challenge, I thought it was some serious technical fault, but luckily it was just a personal error. I took my car to the local workshop. The mechanic checked it out, did some testing with his equipment, and it turned out I hadn't properly engaged the brake pedal when starting the car, which threw the warning lights haywire - elementary mistake, I know. In your case, it could be a similar situation or a different problem entirely. Can you provide more info? Things like - Does this happen consistently or intermittently, when and how often does the brake light fail, etc. could help me guide you better. And oh, didn't cost me a single euro to get it fixed, cheers to that! Looking forward to your reply and hope we can get this sussed out together!

Hey, appreciate the out-of-the-box suggestion. As it stands, I make sure to engage the brake pedal properly every time before starting my car, so I believe we can rule out the personal error bit. To answer your questions, I'd say the issue with the brake light and the ABS warning light seems to be intermittent. They pop up every now and then, there's no regular pattern as such. Recently though, it's been acting up more frequently, and all this began after my last service at 86980 KM. I'm not sure if it's something specific to the Tarraco models or with my hybrid engine. Just finding it a bit hard to pin down the issue as it doesn't behave the same every time. I guess a trip down to the local workshop might be in order, they might have more insights after a thorough check. Thanks for your time, and cheers to figuring this out together!

Hey again. Thanks for providing those extra specifics. The intermittent nature of the issue is a bit of a head-scratcher, isn't it? Given that these signs popped up after your last service, it's possible that something might have been tampered with accidentally. I can't say with certain conviction if it's Tarraco-specific, or the hybrid engine acting up though. There might also be a correlation with the recent model update - sometimes they don't debug everything before rolling it out on the market. Without having a proper look at your vehicle, it seems tough to nail down this issue. It seems to be defying the simplistic brake pedal position sensor fault hypothesis. I'd put my chips on something more complex or a combination of issues. A workshop visit seems to be the best bet. On a positive note - it’s still under warranty. Make sure to keep all the receipts intact, just in case you need them. It will also be a good idea to document this on Seat’s customer service portal. Hope this helps a bit and you get this niggling issue sorted ASAP. Cheers!

You're right, it does sound a bit more odd when you look close. It's almost like my charming little Tarraco has taken a liking to hide and seek, only without the fun part. I hadn't thought about the possibility of something going haywire due to recent updates, or perhaps an accidental tweak from my last service – those are solid suggestions, and I'm gonna bring them up when I take my car down to the workshop. And yes, the warranty is still there, phew! Thanks for reminding me about keeping the receipts and using the Seat's customer service portal. Wouldn’t want to lose out on the benefits the warranty provides, would I? You're a lifesaver! Again, thanks heaps for your help and insights. Fingers crossed, the workshop gets it sorted. If all goes well, we'll be back on the road without any more problems (or hide and seek). Good looking out, and cheers to friendly gears helping fellow gears!
