Seeking Advice on 2021 Seat Tarraco Gasoline Model Transmission Issues

Grinding noise when shifting gears

Transmission slips/shifts erratically

Hey everyone, I'm having a bit of trouble with my 2021 Seat Tarraco Gasoline model. I've been noticing that the transmission is acting up a bit, shifting pretty erratically, and there's a grinding noise coming from the gears when I try to shift. I'm thinking the transmission control unit could be the culprit. Anybody faced a similar issue and can provide some guidance? How'd you guys resolve this at your workshops? Would love to hear about your experiences, tips or advice. Thanks!

Hey there, I had a similar issue with my 2019 Seat Ateca. I have some experience with cars, though I'm by no means an expert. I ended up taking mine to a trusted mechanic shop. Just like you suspected, the transmission control unit was defective. The guys over there replaced it and the total damage was about 1000.00 Euro. Problem completely disappeared afterwards. By the way, did you notice this issue in specific gears or speed ranges? Knowing this could narrow down the problem a little more. Good luck, and hope this helps!

Hi, I appreciate the info, 1000.00 Euro isn't what I was hoping to hear but if it solves the problem, that's what really matters. About your question, the grinding mostly happens when I'm shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear but the erratic shifting is pretty much across all gears. I just crossed the 154327 KM mark recently, maybe it's time for a major service? Thanks again for your help. Fingers crossed this will do the trick!

Hey again, Yeah, your mileage could definitely be a factor. In my case, I started experiencing those issues around 140000 KM, so not too far off from yours. Given the symptoms and the situation, it does sound a lot like a transmission control unit problem I had. Totally agree with you on a major service, especially if your Tarraco hasn't gotten a thorough check recently. One word of advice though, shop around a bit before committing to a service station. Prices for this kind of work can vary drastically between workshops. Also, don't be scared to ask them to explain what they plan on doing - it's your car after all! Good luck with it! I hope it all goes smoothly for you.

Hey, Thanks for the response and advice, it's been immensely helpful! I'm on the same page with you about getting quotes from different workshops, and making sure I understand what's involved in the repair work. I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope the transmission control unit really is the root cause of my issue, and this resolves once it's replaced. And yeah, it's definitely time to give the old Tarraco a comprehensive servicing. Appreciate your support! Good to know I'm not the only one who's dealt with this situation. Cheers!
