Seeking Advice on 2021 Renault Arkana Engine Issues and Potential Misfires

Engine shuts off by itself

Unsteady engine

Check engine light on

Loss of engine power

Jerking on acceleration

Strong exhaust smell

Hey everyone, I've been facing some odd issues with my 2021 Renault Arkana with a Gasoline engine. The check engine light is on, and the engine randomly shuts off by itself. There are almost no engine revs and it jerks during acceleration. Also, there's a prominent exhaust smell. My own wonder is that these symptoms could be due to detected misfires. If any of you have experienced this or have any insights on what might be going on, your advice would be very appreciated. Specifically, if anyone has had this fixed at a workshop, would love to know how it went and what they did. Thanks a lot in advance!

Hey,! I had a similar issue with my 2019 Renault Kadjar, it's just a bit older than yours but pretty similar. I'd say I've got some experience with cars but I'm no pro mechanic or anything. My Kadjar was acting up with nearly identical symptoms. The main culprit in my case was indeed a dodgy injector. Long story short, I had to go to the workshop where they confirmed a defective injection nozzle. It set me back about €515 to get it sorted. From what I understand, they replaced the faulty injector altogether, and since then, my car's been working fine. Just out of curiosity, what fuel type are you running in your Arkana? Any recent changes or work done on it? Information like that could help figure out if we're dealing with the same cause here. Keep us posted!

Hey, Thanks for the quick reply, really appreciate it! Interesting to hear about your experience with the Kadjar. Oddly enough, I'm experiencing those same symptoms, but my Arkana's barely hit 48068km. I use top tier unleaded petrol most of the times. The last service was done around a week ago; all routine stuff though. Nothing major changed, as far as I know. I did talk to my workshop and they suggested it might be an injector problem too. Hearing about your experience, I guess I'll have to bite the bullet and get it checked properly. I was hoping I could avoid the cost, but your answer confirms my suspicions. No choice but to get her into a shop, I guess. Thanks again! Will keep you guys posted on the developments.

Hey, Sure thing! It's all part of being in the car community, you scratch my back, I scratch yours, right? When it comes to our beloved cars, better safe than sorry. It does sound like we're on the same page here, especially with your workshop mentioning a potential injector issue. Given that you've not done anything out of the ordinary recently, it's probably safe to say it's not any weird fuel mix or anything causing it. In my case, after replacing the faulty injector, all those symptoms were gone. So I reckon, it's worth having a detailed check on your injector system. I know it might be a bit of a hit on your wallet but believe me, it's worth it for the peace of mind and the smooth ride afterwards. Good luck with the workshop visit and keep us updated on the progress! Cheers!

Hey, Absolutely, couldn't agree more about looking out for each other in the car community! I'm relieved it isn't anything to do with a weird fuel mix. Seems like the injector issue is the common consensus here. Honestly, it's refreshing to hear your symptoms vanished post the replacement. So, I'm going to schedule a detailed check for my Arkana at the workshop. Although it might dent my pocket a bit, I guess it's better than having to deal with persistent issues down the road. Thanks again for your help. Promise to keep you guys updated on how it goes. Cheers and happy motoring!
