Hey, thanks for your reply! My 2020 ES Lexus has clocked about 71575 KM and I've not yet faced any accidents *knocks wood*. Gosh, having a defective coolant bypass valve cable connection sounds like a real pain, but thanks for sharing your experience and its clear that I should start troubleshooting from there. I guess it's time to get my hands dirty to see if that's the culprit for my LX. Much appreciated! Cheers
No worries, happy to help a fellow Lexus owner out! With that mileage, fair chance that the coolant bypass valve or its connectors might be the issue. Given how similar our cases are, it's a decent starting point for your troubleshooting. Just remember, if you're not confident in sorting it yourself, no harm in getting a pro to take a look. And hey, you might even get lucky and it's a simpler, cheaper fix. Fingers crossed for ya! Stay safe out there on the road! Best
Cheers for the advice, definitely appreciate it! I'll be checking first if I can manage it myself before shelling out to have a pro look at it. Could save me a few quid, right? Hoping for the best here, and thanks for keeping your fingers crossed for me. I'll keep you posted about what happens. Drive safely as well! All the best

Hello I have a 2020 lexus es. I have the same problem the car heats up, inside the car does not heat up, there is white smoke behind the car when I add gas, but not always. But the fluid is not running out. In my opinion the water pump
Has anyone had similar ? Thank you in advance for your advice

Based on your description, it could indeed be a faulty water pump. However, the white smoke could also indicate a possible head gasket failure, which allows coolant to leak into the combustion chamber and burn off as white smoke. I would recommend starting with a simple coolant system pressure test to check for leaks. If the system holds pressure, the water pump is likely fine and you may need to investigate further for a possible head gasket issue. Please keep us updated on your progress. Do you have any other questions?

Thank you for the answer. The coolant is not escaping.

And white smoke is not always, on the dipstick the oil looks fine. The question is whether it is not the beginnings of a head gasket

Hey there! Yeah something similar happened to my 2018 Lexus GS Hybrid. I ain't no car expert, but I'd say my experience is somewhat decent. Mine was acting just like yours, overheating, and the check engine light was on too. Turns out, the coolant bypass valve cable connection was defective. Took it to my usual workshop and after a couple of checks, theyaged to fix it. Cost me a neat 155€, but it was totally worth it. The car's been running smoothly since then. By the way, could you share more info about your vehicle (mileage, accident history if any)? That info might help me, or someone else provide a more exact solution here. Hope this helps you! Best
