Hey! Thanks for getting back to me. Yeah, my Tarraco has an automatic transmission. About the mileage, she's clocked 55672KM. For servicing, I made sure to keep up with the regular checks. No major parts were recently replaced, apart from the usual oil and filter changes during her latest service. I'll be heading to a mechanic soon, so I'll definitely bring up the TCU you mentioned. Fingers crossed, it's nothing too bad. Thanks for your advice!
No problem at all! It's always great to share experiences, especially when it helps out fellow car owners. Keeping in mind your answer, since your Tarraco has an automatic transmission and has already clocked 55672KM, there could be some other suspects too. Primary among those would be the transmission fluid. If it's old or has dropped below the minimum level, then the transmission could be running dry, causing it to behave erratically. This is something to look out for before heading straight for an expensive TCU replacement. Ideally, transmission fluid should be changed every 60,000 to 100,000KM, but it varies depending on the driving conditions and schedule recommended by the Seat manufacturer for this model. Also, check the condition and functionality of the transmission gearbox and the torque converter. Signs of wear or damage on these could occur due to frequent heavy driving, causing similar symptoms. Sometimes a simple transmission reset (resetting the transmission's internal computer) could do the trick too. Just tell your mechanic about these little things, and he/she should know what to test first before any major replacements. I hope this goes smoothly for you! Keep us posted on how things turn out, yeah? Good luck!
Hey, cheers for your super insightful response! You've given me a lot to think about for sure. Yup, first stop will be the transmission fluid now that you've mentioned it. Better to start from the simpler and cheaper stuff, right? And yeah, the transmission gearbox and torque converter point makes guidance too. I'll make sure to pass all this info to the mechanic. I love learning more about my car and your knowledge has been invaluable! Super big thanks for your time. Will definitely be keeping you and the forum up to date with what happens. Just hoping it's a quick and painless resolution, fingers crossed! Have a good one!
Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2017 Seat Leon a while back. By no means am I an auto expert, but I have managed to pick up some knowledge and experience over the years. In my case, it turned out that the Transmission Control Unit (TCU) was faulty. I took the car to my local garage. The mechanic ran a diagnostic, spotted the trouble with the TCU, and figured it was best to replace it. I forked out about 1000.00 Euro for the whole deal, which was a bit steep, but hey, at least it solved the issue! By the way, could you provide some more details about your Tarraco? Especially about its transmission (automatic or manual) and mileage will help to provide more tailored advice. Has it been recently serviced or had any parts replaced? I’m asking because similar problems can sometimes be the result of other underlying issues, not only the TCU. Remember, every small piece of information can be useful. Looking forward to hearing back from you.
