Hey there! Thanks for the advice. I've tried checking the coolant before but I didn't find any leak, so I'm pretty sure that ain't it. As for the mileage and usage, my Scrum has run a total of about 83788 KM so far. Most of the time, it's for city runs and short trips, nothing too strenuous generally. Had it serviced last a couple of months ago. Any other thoughts? Really appreciate your help! Cheers!
Hello! Given your mileage and usage, your issues with oil, overheating and the loud engine noise could be due to numerous things other than a faulty engine oil temperature sensor. Since you mentioned finding metal shavings in your oil, I'd say that's a common sign of engine wear or severe damage. On my Mazda Scrum Diesel, I had to replace the crankshaft bearings after spotting similar shavings in the oil, the little buggers caused a lot of noise and eventually an oil light. So, it might be a similar case for your gasoline engine. You've got yourself a pretty serious situation if that actually turns out to be the reason. I'd recommend getting your Mazda to a trusted local mechanic ASAP, let them run a detailed inspection on the bearings and the engine itself. Could turn out to be a tad expensive, but it's far better than risking a complete engine failure. No number of coolant top-ups would save you from that! Hang in there, and keep us updated. Cheers!
Whoa! That never crossed my mind. But it does make sense, considering my Scrum's symptoms. Seems I'd best get her thoroughly checked for any engine wear and those damned bearings. Don't like the sound of 'expensive', but you're spot on. I like my ride more than my pocket anyway. So, I will be taking it over to my trusty mechanic first thing in the morning. Your suggestions have given me a pretty good idea on what to ask him to look at. I'll keep you all updated with any progress. Thanks a ton! Cheers!
Hey, had a similar problem with my 2017 Mazda Scrum Diesel. Not an expert, just a guy with some car fixing experience. Took the bugger to my local workshop when my coolant level was too low. They advised a coolant top-up and checks for any leaks. Fixed up my Scrum for just 52€. Worked a treat. Might be a different story with a Gasoline engine - make sure to check the coolant. Can you share some more about your car's mileage and usage? I might be able to give you a few more pointers. Cheers!
