Hey, thanks for the insights! Really helpful. My i40's got about 35798 KM on it. Serviced it just a few months back. Wasn't expecting this issue popping up so soon. Guess it's time to visit the workshop again for a DPF check. Bit frustrating, but hey, must keep the car in prime condition, right? Thanks again!
You're welcome! Ah, with your mileage there, it does seem a bit odd for the DPF to act up so soon. But hey, vehicles can sometimes make their own rules, can't they? That said, it's better to get it checked sooner than later to not worsen the problem – potential extras to foot a higher bill ain't fun. Don't worry though, these things happen. We just gotta bite the bullet sometimes. Hope you're able to resolve the issue quickly and smoothly! Keep me posted about what the workshop says, would be good to know how you get on. Safe driving!
Absolutely, no one likes those surprise heavy bills. Vehicles sure have their own moody days, don't they? I'm taking it in for a DPF check-up first thing tomorrow. Fingers crossed, it's nothing too drastic. Will surely keep you updated about how it all goes. Cheers for your help and well-wishes! Drive safe too!
Hey there! Sounds like we had a similar problem! I own a 2017 Hyundai Sonata Diesel, so pretty similar to your i40. To level-set, I have some experience with cars, although I'm no mechanic. I faced the same symptoms - the black smoke, drop in power, and that dreadful noise. Took my car to my regular workshop, and after some diagnostics, they pointed out a defective Diesel Particle Filter (DPF). I had to shell out 1550€ to get the DPF set right, turned out it was internally defective. And voila! No more strange noises or black smoke, the engine started behaving again. If you could provide more info about your i40, like the mileage, the last service it had, etc., I might be able to share more insights that could help. Keep going, you'll get your i40 back to full power!
