Hey, damn, sounds like I'm pretty much in the same boat as your 2016 Logan MCV then. Sorry to hear you had to go through that, though. Just curious how much you had to fork out for this mess? And has anything new popped up since you got it all sorted out? Crossing my fingers it's a one and done fix. Much appreciated for the advice!
Hey there, yeah it was a bit of a journey with my Logan MCV, don't wish that on anyone. As for the price, it did make my wallet cringe a bit. It cost me about 1550€ to remedy the issue. They initially tried to clean the DPF, but the mileage on the car was just too high. Ended up having to replace the Diesel Particulate Filter due to the defective state it was in. Since then, though, it's run like a dream, no complaints. That was a couple of years ago and the problem hasn't reared its head again, even with the black smoke and engine light issues being long gone. So, once fixed, you should be good. Just make sure you keep up with your regular maintenance checks with the mechanic, and you should be fine. Just keep your chin up these things happen. Hope you get it sorted without any hassle. Do let us know how it goes. Good luck!
Hey, thanks a million for the insight. That price tag—yikes! But, it's a relief to hear the nightmare has a happy ending. So, fingers-crossed, I'll also get through this as you did and can put it all behind me. Appreciate your advice on the follow-up maintenance, I'll definitely keep up with that. It's been a real help, thank you! I'll be sure to update here once it's all sorted. Cheers!
Hey, sounds like you're having a similar issue to what I had with my 2016 Dacia Logan MCV a while ago. Disturbingly similar symptoms - black smoke, engine light on, shaky engine power, and that same heavy exhaust smell. Turns out, it was indeed a problem with the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). These diesel cars, especially with substantial mileage like ours, are prone to having DPF issues. In my case, the filter had become clogged due to the sheer amount of soot accumulated - probably because I do a lot of short, city trips which doesn't give enough time for the DPF to do a proper regeneration cycle. In the end, I had to take my Logan to a trusted mechanic, and they did a manual DPF regeneration. That didn't work initially, so they had to resort to a DPF cleaning solution. Mechanic did say though that in worst case scenarios the entire unit might need replacing, so that's something to consider. Yes it's a pretty severe issue. Ignoring it only increases the risk of further damage to the engine, not to mention those nasty emissions. That said, once fixed you should notice a marked improvement in performance. Hope you get it sorted without too much hassle. Keep us updated on your progress. Cheers.
