Seeking Advice on 2018 Seat Tarraco Diesel's Alarm System Issues Potentially Linked to Secondary Battery

Alarm system malfunctions

Hi folks, I've run into a tricky issue with my 2018 Seat Tarraco diesel. Lately, the alarm system's been acting up. I suspect that the secondary battery for the anti-theft might be at fault here. Anyone else had a similar problem? Could you guys share your experience in getting this fixed and how your workshop handled it? Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Hey, just been through some car trouble myself! I’m no pro, but I do have some experience tinkering with my wheels. I’ve got a 2016 Seat Leon, so pretty close to your Tarraco. My issue was similar, turned out my battery was at the end of its road. How's your battery life been lately? Made a pit stop at my local garage, guys were great, tracked the issue down pretty quick. They replaced my battery for about 330 Euro. Sounds like you might be looking at a similar fix. But before jumping to conclusions, when was your last check or battery replacement? It can help diagnose if it's really a battery issue. Hope this helps a bit!

Hey, thanks for the insight! I haven't had the battery replaced at all since I bought the car in 2018. It was last serviced around a month ago at 65113 KM. No issues with the battery were mentioned then. I guess I might need a new one then, just as you did. I'll get it checked at my local garage too. Cheers for the advice!

No worries at all, happy to help! If you've not changed the battery since 2018, it could well be the culprit. But then again, alarms can be tricky beasts. I’ve known some to act up with anything from dodgy door sensors to worn keys. Still, best to start with the simplest solution - get that battery checked. If that doesn’t do it, reckon you might be looking at the alarm system itself. But cross that bridge when you come to it, right? Good luck with it all, fingers crossed it’s just the battery! Let us know how you get on.

Thanks for all the advice and good wishes. You're right, no need to panic and jump to the worst-case scenario just yet. I'll begin with the battery, and then see how things go regarding the alarm system. Will definitely keep you posted on how it works out. Cheers for being helpful!
